Question about Player Development in Historical Mode
Is player development in Historical mode/Challenge mode tied to in-game performance, or IRL stats?
I am trying the 1988 Kings challenge mode, and had two players have massive drops in stats despite being under 30 and coming off strong seasons. #1: Tony Tanti, dropped from 2.5* to 1.0* at 26 years old (no injuries) Acquired Tanti form Vancouver. 88-89: 79 GP, 42-43-85; 89-90, 35-62-97 Then lost 1.5* worth of skill in the 1990 offseason. Interestingly, IRL Tanti fell off a cliff starting in 90-91, which made me wonder about player development. #2: Bobby Carpenter, dropped from 3.5* to 1.5* at 29 years old (no injuries) 88-89: 80GP, 34-39-63. 89-90: 77GP, 34-52-86. Then lost 2* worth of skill in the 1990 offseason. |

In Challenge Mode, it's using the recalculations and their star ratings will reflect how they did in real life. It's why you don't see development reports every month.

Yeah, that's annual recalculation. Tanti's one of those guys whose careers are a little hard to model because it's not a smooth up-and-down curve; I'm working on a way to handle those situations a little better.
