Why do pitcher ratings spike all at once on progress reports?
Anyone else have this problem? It seems to be usually during the first report after sprint training ends. I think it's because everyone calls up the dregs from the minor leagues so anyone with talent looks better comparatively (I'm talking about overall/potential ratings going up). It's a pain in the rear because it's hard to judge how someone's developing because they spike by 5-12 points during spring training, then plummet back down a certain amount during my June scouting reports.
Is there any way to avoid this? I can look at how their subratings are developing , but it's a pain trying to judge guys for roster spots when none of their ratings change, but their overall/potential goes up 11 points. |

first off, overall/potential ratings are nothing more than a general guide and should not actually be used to evaluate a player, that's what individual ratings are for.
Your issue is probably because your overall evaluation is based on positions not all players, so during spring training there are a bunch of borderline ML players on rosters causing the better players to get a higher overall rating (Because there are more players at his position of a lesser value) go to your game menu/ setup and options / global setup and on the bottom left there is a check box verall rating based on all players not positions" check that box and it should at least partially alleviate your issue
