Historical players in a Fictional league ?
Guys, I was just curious : does OOTP 17 allow one to import 'real/historical' individual players (ie : Babe Ruth), dump them all into a free agent draft, and then create, draft, and customize a fictional league/teams, using the imported players ?
Thanks ! |

Yeah you can do it but it'll take a little work. You can create a fictional league with however many teams and minor leagues you want (if any). Then mass delete all the fictional players and import your historical players using the mass import text file:
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...-3-0-plus.html http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...-possible.html http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...l-players.html Then just set up a free agent draft . Or, you could set up a quickstart using the All-Time Greatest Players QS that comes with the game and export all its rosters to a text file. Open that text file with Excel and then do the same with your fictional league rosters. Make sure you have the same number of players in each file and then copy and paste all the ATG player info EXCEPT player IDs, team IDs, and team names into your fictional league rosters. Save that file as a .csv file and then import it into your league. Then dump all the players into the free agent pool and set up a free agent draft. In both cases, if you want historical players to keep showing up in the amateur drafts, then you can click that option in the setup but you'll have a lot of duplicate players after a while. |

Hey ! Thanks for the info. Much obliged.
So, there is an All-Time Greats 'league' with version 17 ? Now, without having to do the text file and Excel thingy you mentioned, couldn't I just simply start a custom league with the ATG players, and just dump them all into a free agent draft ? Thanks ! |

Yeah it's possible. You would create a league using the ATG QS and then rename all the teams, change their uniforms and logos and most likely their geographical info and ballparks. It might be easier to do the Excel suggestion. I can help you out with that. Give me a day or so and I can cook up a league like that and post it for you to download. Any specific rules or suggestions you want?

Much obliged, kind sir ! But no need to create anything for me. Part of the fun is putting it all together. I decided to use the Seamheads ATG league in version 14. I will create my custom league with that, and then piggyback it on to the later versions. |
