I would imagine Puckett to be worth almost 30k, no?

Big Walt loses a no-hitter with two outs in the ninth on a Freddie Freeman single.
I must cry now.

He was one of my all-time favorites ... too bad his career was cut short because of his blurred vision ... and of course, he died way too early.
He'll be my CF, no matter if he hits LHP and RHP or none at all

He's pretty much my favorite baseball player of all time and I go way back. I love Oliva, sat right next to him at a boxing match. Loved Killebrew, loved Sir Rodney Carew........but Puck was my favorite. Got a nice poster of him down in the man cave which is mostly music themed but he got a special exemption. For a few years I hated Dennis Martinez for beaning him but honestly, that stuff happens.

The Raccoons went 24-4 in June putting them in 1st place for now. The Blue Angels will be tough, but I think we can win the division. But that Direwolves team... If we can get past them in the playoffs, I think we stack up well against everyone else. In our only previous meeting, we took 3 of 4 from the Direwolves, but that was just luck.
Surprisingly, Boudreau is still leading the league in AVG and the team is hitting .301 which shouldn't last. Our team leads the conference in RA which hasn't happened in a while which leads me to believe that this is an easier league than we've been in for a while now. If the Direwolves weren't in this league we might have been the favorite to win it all, but maybe we can get lucky and finally win a perfect title.

Somehow my Mud Hens are still playing well (.585 WPct) in diamond and are only 1.5 back of 1st and are the top WC by 5.5. If somehow they luck out and make it to perfect, I'd like them to join the NFTP league, but maybe I'll first friend my Raccoons team so they can play each other. I know some people don't want their teams playing each other, but I think it would be fun to see (and yes, I'd still think that even if the Mud Hens were to knock the Raccoons out of getting a playoff berth).

OK, not really related to this thread exactly, but I just found out that my PT19 Chesapeake Clippers finally got promoted to perfect after 23 straight years in diamond! Now they're in a whale league getting killed, but at least they finally made it (but they lost the WS).
I hope my Raccoons don't need 23 years to win a perfect title. [There, now it's on-topic].

The Muck Rakers are still playing .620 ball in PL.421. It's most certainly the division that I'm in, illustrated by rtkretz's Ann Arbor team coming to town and sweeping the series without too much trouble. He left our series with a 61-9 record.

It's the middle of July and all three of my times entertain plausible playoff scenarios - even the perfect Critters.
The Rebels pulled a 1996 Ken Caminiti from their twice-weekly pack, so maybe that will help. The Coons have the same card and it's a bit hit-and-miss, but usually performs quite well even in Perfect. Should be good enough for a lowly Bronze team! At the same time it's not worth enough to make a sale tempting; 10k recent. You're not likely to pull something better in nine packs...

Season series complete with the Louisville Colonels. Went somewhat pearshaped. 0-6. Raccoons lost in every which way possible, including 1-0 in 11 innings. Next year I'll get you, Mr. Orcin! Next year!

Frustrated by early playoff exits, I decided to convert my Bees to a Milwaukee Braves/Brewers (BraveCrew) theme team. They are in playoff contention in Diamond and I've acquired a few interesting upgrades, like diamonds Braun, Sabathia, Tommy Harper, and Eddie Matthews. Ted Simmons (gold) has been a pleasant surprise at catcher, batting .327. My surprise ace is Brandon Woodruff 84 (3.86 era - not superb but best in my staff), although he's been the surprise ace of the actual Brewers too. His card value has increased +13 and hopefully will continue to go up. I'm noticing in with my Perfect League teams that a few teams are having success with the lower meta cards I have like Maddox, Erstad, Carew, and Gwynn, so I may switch back to that lineup when (if?) I get promoted.
My Thieves are 12 games over .500 in perfect but in a tough division, so out of contention. Pyt suggests I'm doing several games better than I should be, but I'm enjoying being eighth in the league at the moment. My Barnstormers are sub .500 in Perfect but in a bad division so they are actually in playoff contention - LOL. Two games out... |

My Gold .302 Islanders have 77 wins *by Friday* - I haven't had a team do that at any PT level in '19 or '20
Oh and Jackie Robinson (97) was leading AS vote-getter. Season cannot get better (crosses fingers that season does get even better) My Diamond .376 Stunners are 60-55, in a tight division and wildcard battle. I am *very* happy with that for a first Diamond season Felix Hernandez (89) throwing 3.04 ERA with an AS appearance in his first season on the team, I like it! (PotM Lucas Giolito struggling a little more in his first season, hmm...) Bob's (Bronze .214) Milwaukee All-Stars are at 60-53... and 4th in division 1 back in wildcard so not all bad, heh. Christian Yelich is having an off-year, .255 AVG (though still .370 OBP) with 17 homers. New bullpen star Dan Plesac (84) is throwing a nice 2.39 ERA off 52.2 innings, Jeremy Jeffress actually beating him with 1.67 ERA off 43.0 innings. Current Closer John Axford might be struggling to hold his role next season, after only converting 24/29 save chances so far

Interesting... Axford is doing well for me - 1.83 ERA - but Plesac is struggling at 5.4. Fingers 89 is struggling too at 5.02. I need to play with a few options because my bullpen sucks but the team is 3rd in AVG and 2nd in runs, so at least they can score... |

One month to go.
Somehow the Raccoons hold a playoff spot by the slimmest of margins, a half game lead for the second wild card in Perfect. Neither the division nor the first wild card is in play, but a hungry bunch right behind them is. Maybe they should stop all the losing to that other wild card candidate in their division… The Rebels are three games up in their division in Bronze. They're only ("only") 20 games over .500 though, and their standing in the wild card rankings is actually worse than that; so it's division or bust for them, most likely. The Accountants sit seven out in their Silver division, but have a 4 1/2 game lead in the wild card chase.

After an 12-11 April, the Raccoons have played superbly. They now have a 9 game lead on a very good Pensacola team. The Raccoons have never been the top team record wise at any level, but this is the closest they've ever been this late in the season.
So far, the only disappointment this season is Lajoie who's been riding the bench for a while since he's only been hitting .237 (he's a .294 career hitter at perfect). John Clarkson's been the best pitcher (though all 5 have been terrific) and he just had a 19 game winning streak snapped. And finally, 94 Babe Ruth continues to play like 100 Babe Ruth (183 OPS+ in 68 G).

The Frogs are eyeing their first division title at Perfect level. The team got out to a massive 22-5 start and it looked like a romp in a relatively meh P403. But, things got a little dicey earlier today when the offense totally shut off and the team went thru a strange 2-11 spell.
The chasing Bras-d'Apic Tireless Lumberjacks closed to within 4 games at one point, but the Frogs shook off their slumping ways and now hold a 7 game lead with an 80-53 record. After the Amsterdam Armada (108-26) and Huntley Red Raiders (99-34), the Frogs hold the 3rd best record in P403. It's also worth mentioning that Huntley went on a 31-1 stretch and it would've been a 32-game winning streak were it not for a close 2-1 loss on the road. I have to imagine whether it's Amsterdam, or my team, or someone else in my conference, it'll be Huntley meeting up in the league series. One interesting development is the Frogs have been able to put together the best bullpen by ERA (2.58) in the conference, and on the cheap. 89 Dennis Eckersley has been a rock as the closer for several seasons now and he's on another long save streak. But, his supporting cast has also been stellar. 80 Pedro Borbon is setting up. Lefties include 77 Steve Howe and 73 Jeremy Affeldt. 73 Jim Johnson and 88 Ismael Valdez round out the 6-man unit. It's unclear how sustainable this is, but talk about economical--there's only about 15K PP invested total. Many teams will have a single reliever (Hoffman, Fingers, Wilson etc) that costs double.
