Joe Dimaggio has some work to do...
I started a historical replay from 1871 with an Inaugural draft. I took over the Brooklyn Atlantics. You would think the big news would be that I won both of the first two championships, but it's not. You might think the news is my incredible lineup for the era:
1. Davy Force 3B .823 OPS 2. Ross Barnes 2B 1.188 OPS 3. Cap Anson 1B .963 OPS 4. Lip Pike RF .870 OPS (7 HR) 5. Ezra Sutton SS .759 6. Doug Allison C .789 7. Steve Bellan CF .616 8. Jim Foran LF .562 Nah Scored 8.7 R/G Nope.. Is it my SP Bobby Mathews who almost won the Pitching Triple Crown. No. Perhaps Ross Barnes' .502 Batting Average. In 50 Deadball Games cool and getting warmer but not the most impressive thing he did. How about that he hit safely in all 50 games in 1872, and the last 9 games of 1871. He also hit safely in every World Series game in 1871 and then again in 1872. So let's do the math. Officially he's on a still active 59 game hitting streak in the regular season. He hit safely in every game of my 1871 World Series sweep so tack on 4 games. And he hit safely in every game of the 7 game 1872 World Series, So he's on an unofficial 70 game hitting streak. I've never had a player in any league online or solo above 36. Perhaps others won't be impressed as Capitoline Grounds in Brooklyn is a hitter friendly park. And I'm sure others have shared more impressive feats. But I'm sure impressed, and felt like sharing. I will update this when next season rolls around. BTW. OOTP 17 Rocks.

And it's over! In the 4th Game of the 1873 season Barnes goes 0/4.
Final Tally: Unofficially 73 Game Hitting Streak if you include the World Series! Officially a 62 Game Hitting Streak in the regular season including hitting safely in every game of the 1872 season.

Thanks for this post. Pretty neat!
I've been playing OOTP for about three years now but tonight I will be starting my first historical league. I plan to also start in 1871. Should be a wild ride |
