Dear Cap,
I've never been real comfortable with that Tim Logan photo. This is upsetting because he is the only guy in my 1912 hewavyweight group(other than Jeff Madden, who I don't have ANY photo of) that I'm not sure if it's really him. And I remember you saying you weren't sure where it came from. If you look at his shoulders, they drop straight down, like a skinny guy's would. Tim was a palooka, but he was a 200 pound palooka. The guy in the picture looks like a 120 pound palooka. The Soldier Delaney photo looks almost like a composite; a Frankenstein New York heavyweight. So Cap, what do you think of this list from 1912? It contains 5 top black heavyweights(the obvious 4 plus Battling Jim Johnson), and "40 White Hopes". Black Heavyweights have a "BH" next to their names. That's better than putting 40 "WH"s. 1.Porky Flynn 2.Jack Sullivan 1BH. Sam Langford 3.Andy Morris 4.Sandy Ferguson 5.Jeff Madden (no picture ) 6.Arthur Pelky 7.George "One Round" Davis 8.Tom Kennedy 9.Soldier Delaney (Frankenstein photo-?) 10.Jim Coffey 11.Jim Stewart 12. Soldier Kearns 13.Sailor White 14.Al Benedict(I knocked him down, typing his name) 15.Jack McFarland 2BH.Joe Jeanette 16.Jim Savage 17.Dan Daily(great photos! Stereotype big brute heavyweight) 18.Tim Logan(Is he REALLY that skinny guy?) 3BH. Battling Jim Johnson 19.Frank Moran 20.Tom McMahon 21.Tony Ross 22.Harry Wuest(no 1912 weight found my guess 1912-180 to 185) 23.Jim Barry 24.Al Kubiak 4BH. Jack Johnson 25.John Willie (no 1912 weight found- my guess- 180 to 185) 26. Luther McCarty 27. Carl Morris 28. Jess Willard 29. Al Palzer 30.Jack Geyer 31.Gunboat Smith 5BH. Sam McVey 32.Charley Horn 33.Charley Miller 34.Al Kaufman 35.Jim Flynn 36. Fred McKay 37. Bombardier Wells 38. Fred Storbeck 39.George Rodel 40.P.O. Curran(no weight), or Jack Reed, or Al Williams, or Cap's choice.

Steamboat Brand Palooka 1912 HW Discussion
I moved your post as it appears to be about more than photos or a discussion of photos.
Once a few more photos are posted in that thread, your post will be buried. Christopher

Sorry Chris, I meant to be discreet, and not hog up any spots. Put this post wherever you'd like, even in the trash. I saw that Tim Logan photo, and got fired up. I fear this is now 2 Tim Logans that might not be Tim. There was another one that turned out to be some Scroggins guy, or something close, and THIS Tim Logan I always felt was way too skinny to be 200 pounds. You can only see his head and shoulders, but his shoulders drop off suddenly, like an old bantamweight. Soldier Delaney's photo I take with a grain of salt, but it COULD be him. But if it IS him, the photo was taken as Soldier Delaney was stuck outside on a very rainy day, and the photographer is safe and warm inside, taking the picture through the window pane, with water running down. The wet and fogged window pane distorts Soldier Delaney's features. You see Soldier Delaney trying to get back in, pleading with the photographer to open the window. The photographer is obviously not afraid, because he knows Delaney is harmless, not capable of hurting anyone.

Re: Tim Logan. Until better comes along.....
Remember that, according to Boxrec, in 1913 Logan weighed 185 against Levinsky. Cap
