Compensation
I think when a player from Europe is signed by a NHL club the club he is playing for should get compensated, just like in reality.
Otherwise you could lose a planned core player late in off season and get nothing in return. Thanks for an amazing game. |

They do, other than leagues (like the KHL) where there's no transfer agreement. The amount specified by the NHL-IIHF transfer agreement is only $240,000, though. It'll be moved from the NHL team to the player's former team when he signed, but the amount's so small that it's not really noticeable.
