LBNA - Grand Championship Preview

The following preview was written by the LBNA's team representative.

The LBNA is a french speaking OOTP league that began in 1995 following the Expos excellent 1994 strike shortened season.

League Website: LBNA - Ligue de Baseball Nord-Amricaine

LBNA:

The team is built around solid starting pitching, superb defense and a dependable offense. The first thing we did was to find solid contributors at a low salary. Next, we identified positions with less depth and no real discount available and tried to pick the greatest players (whatever their salaries were). We focused on more quality in the starting pitching. Finally, we only put in 5M$ in our bullpen. The team will play in Oakland, California.

Projected Starting Lineups

VS RHP + DH
1 R Tony Dure CF
2 L Donald Pitts 3B
3 R Foster Park RF
4 L José Pérez DH
5 R Frank Martin 2B
6 L Orlando Ramón LF
7 R Mike Smith SS
8 R Clarence De Los Santos 1B
9 L Júlio Reyes C

VS LHP + DH
1 R Tony Dure CF
2 R Clarence De Los Santos 1B
3 R Foster Park RF
4 R Frank Martin 2B
5 R Leon Christian DH
6 R Mike Smith SS
7 L Orlando Ramón LF
8 L Donald Pitts 3B
9 L Júlio Reyes C

Dependable offense, solid defense.

Projected Rotation

Tom Gore
Cliff Daugherty
Jason Wilson
Claudio Quintana
Guillermo Hernandez

It’s the backbone of the team. A very good top three SP with two cheap options at #4 and #5.

Projected Bullpen

Closer: L Toki Shini
Setup: R Mike Gordon
Middle: L Jeremy Edwards
Middle: R Ramiro Sánchez
Middle: R Roberto Valle
Specialist: L Will Moore

The cheapest of the cheapest relievers available. Let’s hope It holds up…

5 Keys to Winning:

1. Consistency on offense. If the offense can finish top 10, the team should be a top 8 seed.

2. Starting Pitching. The team is loaded at SP with three studs (SP#1) and two other options with SP#3 quality.

3. No depth on the bench except potential pinch hitters Michael Lyons and Leon Christian

4. The bullpen has to be average. It doesn’t need to dominate, just to be competent.

5. Let’s hope that the lack of team speed is not an issue.
