From 1871-1881 when ther were 8 teams in the league, there was only 1 round of the playoffs - the World Series
From 1882-1900, 16 teams, 2 divisions each league, 2 rounds of playoffs - LCS and WS. From 1901-1960, 20 teams, 2 divisions each league, LCS and WS. From 1961-1968, 24 teams, 3 divisions each league (Wild Card), Division Searies, LCS, WS. From 1969-2009, 32 teams, 4 divisions each league, DS, LCS, WS. The A's made the playoffs 43 times and were one of the original 8 teams from 1871. The Twins won the World Series 10 times, and they started in 1882. The Cubs won the WS 4 times - 1878, 1879, 1915, 1977. The Brewers, Rockies, and Rays never won the WS. They all entered the league in 1969 and combined for 30 playoff appearances. |

I find this dicussion fascinating. A couple of questions. First, in my config file, I don't see any entries regarding SP stamina. Secondly, why did you choose the league expansion parameters you did, such as expanding to 32 teams in 1969?

Chicagofan76 - The White Sox won the World Series 8 times in the sim. 1927, 1930, 1948, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1988, 2004.
68pirate - The entries regarding pitcher stamina calculation are the very last two in the file. This is a new entry for OOTP11 and was included in a patch update. So if you're using OOTP10 or not using the most up to date version of OOTP11 then you won't ee it. I used more teams than IRL because I disabled injuries. With more talent always available in the league I was able to put more teams out on the field. Also, this helps to prevent great players ending up behind other great players in the depth chart and not ending up with a starting job. Also, due to the fact that OOTP's AI will play the best players (since hindsight is 20/20), if I played with the historical number of teams in each time period, the superstars would not rack up the totals they should since they'd be pulled closer to the league average. |

Those r some weird years for the Sox to win the Series. Most of the late 40's teams had little pitching, and i find it odd that none of the mid to late 50's teams made it.......did the 8 men out still get kicked out of baseball in your league, my guess would be no.

Chicagofan76 - I used the rookie draft. Players did not play for the same teams they did IRL. Even if I used the setting to import players to their real life teams, with all the player movement in MLB history the league still would have turned out vastly different. In my sim, players retired acording to history, so their final season in MLB IRL is their last season in OOTP - so the 8 men out did not play more seasons than they did IRL.

you inspired me to do something similar. I did not attempt many changes and just used the OOTP 1871 startup
Just curious about the size of your save folder. from 1871 to 1Jan2011 the save file wound up being 58.4 GB, 3432k files & 1218 folders - NO LOGS were saved. Took about 30 hours too run with full minors from day 1. Niekro retired in 77 in my league and did not even reach 200 wins - Should have had an extra decade of heaving knuckleballs |

450 meg for the entire league. I turned off saving some features, I did not use any minor leagues since they are really unnecessary in a historical sim, and I set Statistics Detail to Low.

Do you know what the acronyms IPGS and CGP mean? Innings per game started? Complete game percentage? Quote:

I can confirm that I have upgraded to 11.2.28 and my config file still doesn't contain stamina entries. I have done this on two separate computers.

Garlon: You said the A's made the playoffs 43 times. How many World Series did they win? I would hate to make the playoffs 43 times and never win the World Series.

Seems like everyone's stats were very accurate. Anyone fall off the table or become a surprise star?
Is this setting the reason for the accuracy? Talent Change Randomness: 1 |

68pirate -
Just add these two lines to the botton of the config file: HISTORICAL_SP_STAMINA_CALCULATION_IPGS_WEIGHT 100 HISTORICAL_SP_STAMINA_CALCULATION_CGP_WEIGHT 100 You can then change the value for each of them. IPGS refers to InningOuts pitched per Game Started CGP stands for Complete Game Percentage |

I'm a bit surprised that you used the same settings for stolen bases, bunting and hit and run throughout most of the history of your sim. I'm curious how those settings worked in the dead ball era, when I would think those settings should be much higher. Thanks.
