Clenfuegos is a real name. I read something by a guy with that name and it stuck in my head so I just looked in the Intelius phone book online and checked the border states and found fifteen people named Clenfuegos in California, five more in Arizona, one more in New Mexico and five more in Texas. What you think may be an error may be the name some people use.

Cienfuegos is also the last name of a famous international midfielfer from Central America.

And that's why I'm going through them one-by-one.

Sometimes they are clear misspellings, and other times, they are rare and interesting names.

And my changes won't necessarily be perfect, either , but it'll weed out some of the obvious problems, like multiple consonants in a row, or three 'i's where there should be 'l's.

This one is with an 'l' though, not an 'i', so it's a little more rare, I'd say.

You are right! There is no way someone would come from Little Rock with a name YOU cannot pronounce.

This is a good reason to always play in commish mode. Then you can change ridiculous names. It's fine unless your HOF slugger is named Frank Frank or something equally crazy. I can see how that takes away from the realism.

Just today I noticed Elmer Ulmer. That could get annoying if he was a superstar and you saw the name all the time.

The nasty undertone of this thread makes me feel for kids whose parents give them unusual names. Lets make a kids life ten times more difficult why dont we!

Imagine if that slugger had a girls name. Like Babe Ruth or something. Or two first names like Henry Aaron!

Let's not forget what can happen to someone with the name Major Major as detailed in the nonfiction account of WWII and the life of Major Major Major, Catch 22.

Funny names....

In 1979 I was in the Army and a friend of mine was name Leo Major, he was promoted to E-5 Sergeant and always answered his phone as Sergeant Major.
You would not believe the respect the guy got........until people realized that the Major was his last name......
