new 32-team request: two-year rotation

Hi. Long-time player, first-time poster ...

I'm looking for a schedule with the following parameters:

32 teams, divided into 2 sub-leagues, each with 4 4-team divisions
162-game schedule, broken down like this:

..14 games against each of the other three teams in their division (42)
...... four series: 3-gm home, 3-gm road, 4-gm home, 4-gm road

.. 6 games against each of the other 12 teams in their subleague (72)
..... two series: 3-gm home, 3-gm road

.. 3 games against each of the 16 teams in the other subleague (48)
..... one 3-gm series

The wrinkle is that I would like a two-year rotation for interleague play, using this as the example:

.. Year 1: AL East hosts NL East / NL North; visits NL South / NL West
.. Year 2: AL East hosts NL South / NL West; visits NL East / NL North

In other words, a team plays every team in interleague play every year, but alternates home-and-road every other year.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure who is making schedules these days. In the meantime have you looked at the GMO schedules?

Yep, none of the 32-team skeds quite did that. Thanks for that link.

I just made a schedule last week that was almost exactly like this one, except it was for 30 teams rather than 32. I'll see if I can modify it to fit this new format.

Here's your schedule:

- 32 teams, separated into two subleagues of four 4-team divisions

- Teams play 14 games against division opponents (7/7 - 21/21 in total)
- 6 games against conference opponents outside the division (3/3 - 36/36 in total)
- 3 games against interleague opponents (3/0 for two divisions, 0/3 for the other two - 24/24 in total)
- Total of 162 games

The season is 3 days longer than the MLB season, due to needing to take place in 52 half-weeks rather than 51. The season would then end in early October, starting on a Monday and ending on a Wednesday. There's a spot for the All-Star Game in the second week of July - I think you'll have to schedule it yourself, but it should be obvious where it goes.

All Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday games start at 7:05 PM. All Sunday games start at 1:05 PM, and Thursday games are a mix between the two.

The longest homestand or roadtrip is 21 games, which there's only one of - that's much longer than I was hoping for but hopefully that's acceptable. It's only for one team, and it's a roadtrip in schedule 1 and a homestand in schedule 2 that takes up the majority of the month of August.

That should be it - let me know if there are any other issues.

Here I am bumping a 5-year dead thread, but for good reason. Fonzie came to me looking for some extra bells and whistles on this schedule and I was able to work it all out, so here's an updated version of the schedule files that I originally wrote back in 2015.

----------
Schedule for 32 teams, 162 games - 2 subleagues, each containing 4 divisions of 4 teams each
Interleague YES, balanced games NO
----------
- 14 games vs. 3 division opponents (7H/7A)
- 6 games vs. 12 league opponents (3H/3A)
- 3 games vs. 16 interleague opponents (3H or 3A)
----------
Season begins on the last Thursday of March and ends on a Sunday in late Sept/early Oct. This is exactly the same length as the current MLB schedule
Weekday games begin at 7:05 local time, Sunday games at 1:05 local time, and Saturdays a mix of 1:05, 4:05 and 7:05 starts
----------
The last two weeks of the season consists of all divisional games; this is the final 12 or 13 games for each team
Because of the high number of interleague series, they're not confined to a particular part of the calendar, but the first and last 3 weeks of the schedule will be interleague-free
----------
Homestands and roadtrips have not been extensively tested but I believe the longest ones in this schedule are in the 12-13 game range. Most are between 6-9 games
For the most part, road trips in these schedules will "make sense" geographically - not all, but you'll see teams heading out to California for a week to play two series, etc.
----------
Two files included - interleague matchups flip between the two versions

EDIT: fixed XML parsing error - schedule was functional before but should now load without incident.
