Cobra, look...there's no reason for them to panic. They can still make the playoffs. They still have a chance at making a championship run. There's no reason to make any changes whatsoever. There is no reason to fire Garrett. His job is safe. There is no reason to fire...............
WILL SOMEONE TAKE THE NEEDLE OFF OF THIS RECORD, PLEASE!!! |

The time is soon that the only people that will get that reference will be buying Geritol in bulk.

But I will say that the needle is off the record for my Giants despair, at least for one week. They tried hard to lose that game but pulled it out in the end. Gutsy performance by Daniel Jones and the offense. Defense still needs work.

Are the Bengals the only team that know how to properly tank?

tbf they outscored Miami 23-7 in the fourth to force overtime so they nearly bungled that one. Happy for my Jets and their 'moral victory' though.

I'm proud of my Panthers. Once they finally came to grips with the fact that they sucked, they went full throttle tank. From pretending to be a contender for the playoffs in October to last place & a top 10 draft pick. Nice work! Now get to updating those resumes.

Jalen Ramsey thinks his teammates blew the coverage late vs the Niners. What do you think?

I have been a Cowboys fan since the Walt Garrison days and have never truly wanted a coach to be fired. I even wanted to give Dave Campo more of a chance.
Jason Garrett should have been fired before boarding the flight home last night.

Garrett is in last year of contract ---- He will not be offered another by Cowboys .
I think the NEXT coach will be a surprise ....... Jason Witten and a six year contract . Jerry Jones follows the trend with a young player/ coach and someone who is loyal to COWBOYS ..... then watch coaching staff and player movement ..... Dak could not seem to throw deep Sunday --- is there something wrong in his contract year ?

Some of the traditional NFL coaching thinking i dont understand why its
stilled thought of as great strategy. The chargers were down 24-14 with about 1:29 to go and had the ball with 4th and goal. They take the field goal and go for the onside kickoff. Seems logical but is it? Yes there is only 1 chance for the td but you are a lot closer. Seems a bit easier to make a longer fg than a longer td pass. Even if you do recover the onside kick you still dont have much time left. But you do have 4 more downs. In any case you still have to score a td. Not saying kicking the fg first is bad strategy but going for the td isnt bad either. Its just that if you dont get the td the game is over quicker. Thats the only difference i see. I dont see it as brilliant strategy to just go for the fg. If you get the td there may be a higher chance now that you only have to go for the fg. Though the NFL has almost made exciting onside kickoffs a moot point with the kickoff rule changes . I mean as soon as the chargers went for the fg i pretty much knew the raiders would win as it is much harder to recover an onside kick since the rule changes. |

They didn't want to wait a couple weeks to interview Jason Garrett?

That game was an embarrassment on Sunday. That was probably the worst effort I've seen from this team in some time. Against a team with 10 starters out. But we don't have players like this anymore. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNmcSpXRDfo |

For me, I'm more concerned with the front office than who is on the sidelines. It's time for a rebuild. I like the Panther skill position players. But the QB situation is unresolved & unsettled. Both front lines need to be overhauled. And when those spots are fixed, will the safeties be young enough to not be a liability when that time comes around. In fact, overall the team needs to get younger.

Giants fans should root for their team to win, not for a higher draft pick The writer makes two good points, one easy to get and the other, well, harder to make out, I guess. Point 1: Say a team deliberately, uh, "chooses to be non-competitive" in order to get a higher draft pick. Then say that higher draft pick flops, for whatever reason. What a waste of fan energy and interest! Especially if the team traded away or neglected to sign good players in the bargain. Point 2: Here, I will quote: Sorry, but I’ll never agree with this line of thinking. In the inimitable and immortal words of former Jets coach Herm Edwards: You play to win the game. Period. Rooting against your team for any reason is just weird . . . if you build your team properly and make sensible draft decisions over a period of years, it never should come down to hoping your team loses just to get a higher pick. Amen on the first point. This past Sunday, I'm watching two 3-11 teams battle each other hard. There was no tanking; they went at each other like it was the Super Bowl. And I found myself rooting for and caring about the New York Giants as I haven't done for quite a while. Amen on the second point. Owners, GM's, and coaches should be embarrassed by their failures, not seek to make them worse by gambling on what is essentially one, one draft choice. Fans should be embarrassed by wanting them to do so. How in the hell can they call themselves fans and want their team to lose in any game?

Something else that I just recalled. Remember the psychologist in The Natural?
Losing is a disease.…as contagious as polio. Losing is a disease.…as contagious as syphilis. Losing is a disease.…as contagious as bubonic plague. Attacking one.… but infecting all. But curable. I'd rather finish 5-11, building the confidence of my team going into next season, than finish 3-13 and have a chance at Chase Young. He's only one player, untried and unproven in the NFL. I'd rather have a team that is finally gelling and confident in 2020.
