Love coming across things like this.
Alsonso signed a 7 year contract after his 2023 season. He then signed 6 consecutive 1 year minor league contracts with Toledo. 300 MLB HRs,225 or so in Minors. Guess he loved the game and Toledo.
Retired after 2037. |

wow. that's interesting. pretty solid production for someone to not get a single crack at the majors in those 6 years. Toledo's parent club must have had a solid roster.

On a related note, there was an edition of Football Manager quite a few years ago that supposedly had a bug that prevented the Welsh striker Mark Hughes from retiring. He got older and got worse, at least to a point, and the game treated that appropriately, but he'd just keep slogging away in the semi-pro divisions. One user reported a save game in which a 70something Hughes suffered a fractured skull and was out for the season, but came back the next season.
