Love watching pitchers bat.
I got an idea to speed up the game. When a pitcher comes up to bad, make it an automatic out.

Instead of the designated hitter, I'd be in favor of an extra hitter. The batting order would be 10 players instead of 9, but that should be an easy adjustment and it allows for both the pitcher to bat and a designated batter only.

There are several very poor hitting pitchers, but there are also some very good hitting pitchers. Greinke just swatted 2 HR in a game and I have enjoyed watching each of the Brewers SP bat so far this year (in earnest, not sarcastic).

By going to an EH (Extra Hitter), it brings the pitcher strategy back to the AL and puts the NL on an even playing field when playing AL teams.

They can expand the roster to 26 or 27 players to accommodate the EH which should make the player's union happy.

I guess people would complain about a 10 man lineup instead of the traditional 9. They are changing the game anyway, might as well incorporate this idea.

I'd rather they just allow pitchers to hit if the teams want. Add the DH and allow the DH to hit for any player rather than pitchers only.
