Ratings in export

I've noticed that player ratings in exports don't match the player ratings I can see in the player editor.

For example, if I export "players_batting" and then look at any specific player, the numbers don't match what I see in the editor. I've ensured the "Show real player ratings" box is checked in the export configuration section so that's not the issue.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is it a bug with the exporter?

The reason I feel this is important is that the in-game editor is very difficult to use (especially for pitchers). It's nearly impossible to create a pitcher based on a range of stats as there are so many variables.

Fixing the export would at least allow us to "clone" players so we can roughly recreate them.

For the players_pitching export, the following fields are not exporting correctly:
pitch ratings (current and potential)
Stuff ratings
Movement (current and potential)
Control (current and potential)

I can provide the incorrect fields from players_batting if needed.
Thanks

I have no idea why the ratings in the database export are different, I've never used those dumps, but did try it out of curiosity and see what you're talking about.

All bulk player add/remove/change work I've done has been through the use of the roster export/import functions under league settings. The ratings in those exports are exactly what's seen in the in-game editor.

Is the export perhaps displaying league-relative ratings?

Also, while a logical approach, I do not know if your overarching project will achieve what you wish. My understanding is that the translation of ratings to performance in OOTP is a function of the player’s ratings AND the general distribution of the different ratings throughout the league. Unless the latter is comparable between the source and created leagues, the performance for a given rating will differ accordingly.

Thanks for this, it's good to know. I thought this might solve my issue but then realized I can't automatically dump this file/data using the monthly/yearly dump options under the Almanac section. I checked a few roster files in the csv exports but none have ratings data. Drats

Regarding league-relative ratings, this was a good point so I tested it by toggling the "All player ratings are displayed relative to:" checkbox but it didn't fix anything. The export still showed incorrect ratings.

Regarding general distribution, I do understand your point. I'm not trying to get exact figures, just a rough representation of a particular player.

Thanks for the replies
