Setting Assistant Coach

I hired some new coaches and replaced the previous Assistant Coach (listed at the top of the screen with owner, GM, etc). Rather than having a chance to select what I am considering the assistant head coach it assigned that role to the Goalie coach. Not the guy I have in mind for that slot. But I can't reassign that role. How do I do that?

Perhaps I am attributing too much significance to that slot, but since it is there is must mean something more than just their particular role.

You can't. It's the highest rated coach that gets the spot.

If you right click on said coach you should be able assign him where you want him.

Thanks. Yes, I can assign them to the particular coaching spot but I was trying to put the assistant coach with the best Tactics and In-game tactics into the Assistant spot at the top of the page. As pointed out by jilech, it must be filled automatically.

That assistant spot at the top doesn't do anything - it's just a placeholder to fill that "head coach" slot on the screen when you're GM/Head Coach.

I may be missing something, but why is there an option to ask the assistant in the line tab? Who am I asking?

It is a standard practice in the same soccer manager to ask a particular assistant you have hired to help you with your lineup and tactics.

In this game the assistant is a fill-in-the-blank form filler.

Then the next question is: how is help from an assistant different from help from an AI? Are they the same thing?

What then affects the formation when we press that button? What then does "assistant setup organization" mean?
