PEBA - One of OOTP's most immersive leagues - wants to hear from you!

ONE OF OOTP'S MORE IMMERSIVE LEAGUES WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU!

PEBA is a dynasty report and online league, all rolled into one!
Check out our website for latest league-wide news!

PEBA is a long-running OOTP league which is now in it's 12th year and it's 24th season!
We are looking for GM's that enjoy the immersion of this great game !

Are you that GM? Then PEBA is for you!

The 2030 season is now underway ... meanwhile, last season, the Rodriguez Cup returned to Japan, as the powerful Shin Seiki Evas became champions for the second time in three years!

OOTP Version: 20
Format: Fictional
First Season: 2007
Current Season: 2030 Post-Season
Days Per Sim: 7
Sims Per Week: 2 or 3, depending on time of year. We usually complete two seasons in an actual calendar year.

Our goal is to create an immersive and highly entertaining fictional baseball environment. We welcome any GM who enjoys contributing to that goal regardless of experience level. If you're an enthusiastic OOTP newbie or a seasoned vet looking for a new group of friendly people to compete against, the PEBA may be the perfect landing spot for you!

-----

League Origin Story

The year was 2007, and America was starved for its National Pastime. The PED Scandal and greed on all fronts broke the nation's trust in Major League Baseball, and an Institution of well over 100 years folded up shop and closed their doors. In came John Rodriguez, Sr and a group of wise businessmen who brought baseball back to the forefront – eschewing the big city lights and bringing the game back to the people.

It's hard to believe that was over 20 years ago.

Since it opened its doors, PEBA has had its share of controversy and tragedy; dynasty and Cinderella. It’s the home to ‘Fireworks’, ‘The King’, ‘Big Shot’ and ‘The Moon Dog’. It is a shared dynasty of 28 like-minded souls who have crafted a universe – a PEBAverse, like none other – and now you can become part of that legend.

What We're Like

League Structure

- 28 teams ... divided between the Imperial League and Sovereign League (each with 14 teams) with no interleague play.
- Each major league team has 5 minor league affiliates (Triple-A, Double-A, Full Season-A, Short Season-A, Rookie)
- 4 feeder leagues: 2 college (International and US), and 2 high school (again, International and US)
- 4 independent AI leagues.

Playoff Structure

- 10 teams make the playoffs (3 division winners and 2 wild cards in each league)
- Division Winners in each league advance directly to the Division Series.
- Wild Card Series is best of 5.... then Divisional, League, and Rodriguez Cup each best of 7.

The PEBA is a unique participation-based league – we pride ourselves with immersion that not only covers the game, but takes us out of the dugout and, at times, into the sublime. 2 or 3 sims a week means we move fast enough to enjoy ourselves, but give you enough breathing space to explore the depths of your team. Nowhere else do you find a GM running his club from a mental hospital, a team broadcaster heading to a foreign land to rekindle his game – only to be hunted for drug smuggling, a team hiring a GM and world-travelling manager, both trying to revive 'dead ball' baseball in modern times, and a pair of buddies heading out on the road to visit every ball park – and ending up becoming a real life published book!

The PEBA even has it's own podcast!

The first 4 episodes featured Ken (Florida GM) and Reg (New Orleans GM),
You can find them here :

What are "Contribution Points"?

We use a Contribution Points reward system. These are points accumulated annually based on a GM's activity, such as, for example, writing about one's team (or the league in general), or being involved in the forum discussions.

These Contribution Points can then be used to make teams your own – be it through ballpark adjustments, good old fashioned cash, sending players to winter ball to ‘hone their skills’, or simply giving your favorite player a nickname – Just ask Michel ‘Train A-rollin’ Provost about that!

Our goal is to produce an environment that reflects realism. We play with Coaching and Scouting ON. Make personnel decisions that matter and prepare for the "fog of war" when judging prospects! It will be your skill and keen eye for talent that will separate you from the pack. Every GM has to rely on his scout’s opinion and his own gut feeling – everyone has their own opinion about a player – no cookie-cutter ratings here! Do you like to trade? Our bustling trade environment shows that if you can't swing a trade here, you can't swing a trade anywhere!

As part of our participation concept, we conduct our winter meetings and amateur draft live in our unique chat room. Shoot the breeze with your fellow GMs or lay the groundwork for that blockbuster deal. We have been fortunate to attract a quality group of friendly owners – a stable core group that has been together long enough to create an extremely rewarding environment, and now you can find out why for yourself!

We're always interested in getting to know more like-minded individuals with an interest in joining in our fun and would love to hear from you.

PEBA is a fantastic league eith an active community of helpful GMs. There's a good mix of new and veteran GMs in the league--and although highly competetive, there is a great spirit of fairness and eagerness to help out.

I just finished my first season as the newbie Duluth Warriors GM. PEBA is incredibly receptive to new GMs and has the best history and lore I've found in OOTP.

Will the aging legend Rob Raines hit 3,000 career hits?

Does Michel "Train-Arollin'" Provost have another season left after Free Agency?

Will enigmatic Manager of the Year Vic Caleca ever actually visit his team's home turf in Scotland?

Only one way to find out.

If you're looking for a dynamic, diverse, and player-friendly league with an outstanding Board and top-notch community, PEBA is for you. Thrilled I found this advert last season.

Great league, better community

As someone who just finished his first season in PEBA (I have the Scottish Claymores franchise), I can say without reservation it's a really wonderful league. It's competitive, but the GMs are supportive and congenial and eager to answer questions.

My season, just completed, saw the Claymores get off to a slow start, lose most of the starting rotation to injuries, and then rebound (thanks to some free agent signings and one blockbuster trade) to make the playoffs. It was a roller coaster, but challenging and a heck of a lot of fun.

In addition to the great community, a couple of other things set PEBA apart: it's exceptionally well run by the commissioner and governing board. That's not to say problems never happen, but when they do, they're solved quickly and efficiently.

The fact that it's a writing league also makes PEBA something special. You'll find everything on the league boards from team histories to running accounts of the current season to beautifully-written short stories. There's a long, rich history to draw from and you're constantly finding something new in the archives.

So check it out, and then consider joining the fun!

If you are looking for a league that encourages the narrative side of OOTP and baseball, then PEBA is the p[lace to be. Large articles, quick blogs, player stories, team updates, whatever your style you are welcome here.

Charleston is currently in the market for a GM as they begin from the very bottom of the league as a brand new expansion team. The current quality leaves much to be desired but young talent waiting in the wings like C Mauro Mata and SS Bob Ellerby gives the Statesmen a solid foundation. Plus a large influx of money provides a unique chance for a GM to come in and improve the team however they wish.

Another team has recently become available as well in the form of the Hartford Harpoon. The Harpoon are coming off of a middling 79-83 season but they have some serious firepower. 3B Luis Cedeno is one of if not THE best hitter in the league and he can do it all. He's the team captain and a 5-tool stud that is a nightmare to play against. With a few more additions and some proper care, this team has playoff written all over them.

If you want a league where any GM, regardless of experience, can settle in with friendly and like-minded GM's then PEBA is for you. We have just entered free agency so join one of these two teams in this fantastic league now!

Another bump for the best league in OOTP, and a reminder to get on the waiting list while you can. If you love an incredibly active and engaging community, a rich history, and plenty of competition, you don't want to miss this league.

PEBAcast version 10 is now online!

LISTEN HERE!

In this episode of PEBAcast, Ken, Reg and RJ talk about the 2029 preseason free agency period, the winter meeting drama surrounding the blockbuster trade of Steve Hott, and some of the many other trades that stood out to us.

This one ended up being a little longer than some of our other episodes which may be partly due to us not having done one of these in a while -- we had a lot to say!

I'm also going to try and list the segments so you guys can flip around to listen to the things that matter to you the most. We'd love for you to listen to all of it, but its like an hour twenty, and you (ostensibly) have a life outside of PEBA. Let me know if these are things y'all like it or find use out of it and I'll continue to do it.

The segments listed below are kind of mixed up. We talk about trades and free agent signings between everything else and I think that's partly due to the fact that there's just SO. MUCH. GOING. ON.

We really hope you enjoy this episode! We had a blast recording it for you guys.

Stick around until the end (around the 1 hour, 2 minute mark) for a BRAND NEW SEGMENT heretofore NEVER SEEN in PEBAcast history!

WINTER MEETINGS AND TRADE BANTER
3M 30S

FREE AGENT BANTER
27M 13S

THE SEGMENT IN WHICH WE DISCUSS ONE TEAM (CHARLESTON) FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME
49M 40S

THE OUTCOME OF THE 2028 PRE-SEASON PREDICTION THREAD
56M 13S

'SECRET' SEGMENT
1H 2M

Breaking News : Shin Seiki defeats Kentucky 4-games-to-1 to become 2029 PEBA champs!

Once again, the Rodriguez Cup will head to Japan! The Shin Seiki Evas, led by veteran GM Kevin Vail, secured a second PEBA title in three years! So far, they are PEBA's first (and currently only) Japanese champions.

Since teams from Japan were absorbed into the PEBA nine years ago in 2021, an entire hyper-competitive Japanese division was created (the "Rising Sun" division), and the Shin Seiki Evas became the class of the field.

It is not to say that they had it easy : earlier in the decade, the recently-rebranded Toyama Wind Dancers, led by GM Ron Collins, put up the early challenge. Then, GM Morris Ragland of the Okinawa Shisa posted a 106-win season in 2027, only to be dethroned by the "Evil Evas" in the playoffs. Through it all, the Evas reigned supreme : qualifying for the playoffs in every PEBA season they were ever in ... including 100+ win seasons in five of the last nine years.

Recently, it was the Neo Tokyo Akira that brought the youth movement and the big challenge. Players such as Outfielder Tomas Martínez, and veteran pitchers José Santos and Luigi Bright were up for a fight. It was enough for a 96-win season, but were still swept by Shin Seiki in the S.L. Championship Series.

The legend of the "Evil Evas" lives on. If you want to challenge for PEBA glory, especially in the Sovereign League, you know you'll have to face this team somewhere on your journey!

------------

If you want to join the PEBA and test your GM'ing skills with a competitive, fun and friendly group of opponents, feel free to send us an application!

Even though there are no teams available right away, don't miss your chance to truly test your prowess as GM in arguably the most competitive and friendly environment in OOTP! We'd love to hear from you!

Hello PEBA GMs and fans! It’s somehow been over 3 months since we last recorded and we felt so bad about that that our latest episode is giving you (basically) one hour of podcast for each PEBACast-less month.

In this episode we cover a lot of topics but our primary subjects are the 2030 draft and the upcoming all-star game. Interspersed throughout are goofs and jokes and Ken springing new, unexpected topics at RJ and Reg as he watches them gallantly try to keep the episode on the straight and narrow.

If you are in PEBA already, PLEASE MAKE SURE TO VOTE FOR THE ALL STAR TEAMS. Also: please consider giving Ken a great deal on a bullpen arm.

If you are not in PEBA and thought that this was for some reason interesting or cool, may I suggest heading on over to pebabaseball.com and filling out an application? We’re currently full, but the best way to get into the league is to get involved and stay in touch.

Thanks guys!
