Mertes got a double in the top of the first but was thrown out stealing third. It was the 25th time this season Kling caught a base stealer.

No one would get any closer to scoring in the first three innings.

After three: New York 0 Chicago 0.

It would take until the top of the sixth for either team to break through. The Giants finally got on the board on a Donlin RBI single. McGann added an RBI single. Reulbach answered by striking out Devlin for his 4th K of the season. But the Giants had taken the lead.

After six: New York 2 Chicago 0.

The Giants added a run in the top of the eighth on a Mertes sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Cubs loaded the bases with nobody out. But Evers grounded into the 1-2-3 double play and the Cubs would fail to score.

Bob Wicker pitched the ninth for the Cubs. Marshall hit an RBI single and Hofman left the game with an injury. He was replaced by Pete Noonan. Donlin added a two run double. Frank Burke then hit an RBI single to make it a four run ninth for the Giants.

Mathewson went on to get the complete game shutout.

Final score: New York 7 Chicago 0.

The Cubs got a run in the bottom of the first as Evers scored from second after Donlin dropped a fly ball hit by Hofman. Ames would later strike out Schulte for his 40th K of the season.

Despite the 1-0 score, neither team had a hit in the first three innings.

After three: Chicago 1 New York 0.

Schulte led off the bottom of the fourth with a single for the game's first hit. But the Cubs would not cash it in.

Marshall got a two out single in the top of the fifth for the Giants first hit of the game. But he would advance no further.

In the bottom of the sixth, Steinfeldt knocked one in with a single. A walk later and bases were loaded with two out. Tinker singled to score one run but Steinfeldt was thrown out at home trying to score from second to end the inning.

After six: Chicago 3 New York 0.

Hooks Wiltse came on to pitch for the Giants in the bottom of the eighth. Donlin committed his second error of the game, dropping a Steinfeldt fly ball, allowing Schulte to score from second. Sheckard then added an RBI single.

Pfiester then finished off the complete game shutout.

Final score: Chicago 5 New York 0.

In the top of the second, Evers misplayed a Gilbert grounder, allowing Browne to score from third.

After three: New York 1 Chicago 0.

In the top of the sixth with a man on second, McGann singled into right and then Schulte made a bad throw to home plate as Mertes came around to score.

The Cubs finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth when Tinker recorded an RBI single.

After six: New York 2 Chicago 1.

In the top of the eighth, Donlin scored on a wild pitch.

Schulte led of the bottom of the eighth with a home run. It was the first out of the park home run for the Cubs this season. A couple of batters later and Tinker tied the game with a run-scoring single. Frank Chance then pinch hit and hit a grounder to short but a bad throw by Gilbert allowed Tinker to score the go-ahead run. One out later and Evers left the yard with a two run blast. Sheckard tried to get into the act with a single to right but Ollie Pickering threw Hofman out as he was trying to score from second. Nine Cubs batted in the eighth with five of them scoring.

With two out in the bottom of the ninth, Beebe walked Fitzgerald. It was the 8th free pass allowed by Beebe in the game, setting a National League record. Beebe responded by striking out pinch hitter Bill Dahlen to end the game.

The Cubs ended up out hitting the Giants 15-3.

Final score: Chicago 6 New York 3.

The Cubs long 18 game home stand continues with a four game series against the worst team in baseball. The Boston Beaneaters. The Beaneaters have lost seven straight and are the only team in either league to still have less than ten wins on the season. The Cubs are so far 8-4 on this home stand. This is the first meeting this season between these two teams.

Tenney led off the game with a single to extend his hit streak to 12 games. Two outs later, Brain would bring him home with a double.

In the bottom of the first, the Cubs loaded the bases with nobody out. Schulte singled to score two and give the Cubs the lead while picking up his 20th RBI of the season. Steinfeldt added an RBI single. Then Sheckard walked and again the bases were loaded with nobody out. Tinker grounded out to first to bring home Schulte. Kling brought home Steinfeldt with a sacrifice fly. The Cubs batted around the order and put up a crooked number.

In the bottom of the third, Tinker delivered a run-scoring double. Tinker then swiped third for his 10th stolen base of the season. Kling then brought Tinker home with a sacrifice fly.

After three: Chicago 7 Boston 1.

In the bottom of the fifth, odd number innings continued to favor the Cubs as Kling got a run-scoring single.

Dolan got an RBI single in the top of the sixth.

The Cubs answered in the bottom of the sixth on a run-scoring single from Steinfeldt.

After six: Chicago 9 Boston 2.

Mike O'Neill took the mound for the Beaneaters in the bottom of the seventh.

In the bottom of the eighth, Schulte added an RBI single. One hit later and the Cubs had the bases loaded with nobody out. Sheckard hit a grounder to first but beat out the double play as Tom Walsh came home to score. A Kling walk loaded the bases with two out and then Schulte scored on a passed ball. Brown walked to load the bases again before Evers grounded back to the pitcher to finally end the inning. For the second time in the game, the Cubs had batted around the order.

In the top of the ninth, Strobel was hit by a pitch and had to leave the game. He was replaced by Ernie Diehl. One out later the game was over.

The Cubs pounded out 13 hits in the win.

Final score: Chicago 12 Boston 2.

Pat Moran then came on to pinch hit and he popped out to short and the Beaneaters 9 game losing streak came to an end.

Beebe got the Cubs on the board in the bottom of the second with an RBI double. Evers then brought Beebe in with a single. A Sheckard two-bagger scored Evers.

After three: Chicago 3 St Louis 0

Sheckard struck again in the bottom of the fourth, mashing an RBI triple.

McBride got the Cardinals on the board in the top of the fifth with a sacrifice fly that scored Bennett from third. But Beebe finished off the frame by striking out McFarland for his 50th K of the season.

In the bottom of the sixth, Schulte brought two in with a single.

After six: Chicago 6 St Louis 1.

In the top of the seventh, McBride hit an RBI double and then scored when pinch hitter Art Hoelskoetter singled.

Stoney McGlynn took the mound for the Cardinals in the bottom of the seventh.

In the bottom of the eighth, Schulte added another RBI single. The Cubs loaded the bases with two out but Kling flew out to left to end the inning.

In the top of the ninth, Beckley struck out for the 20th time this season as Beebe got them in order to end the game.

In the bottom of the first, Tinker delivered an RBI triple. Chance then brought Tinker home with a single. A couple more hits and the bases were loaded with nobody out. Sheckard walked to score Chance. Slagle went down on strikes for the first out. Moran then cleared the bases with a double. Moran then tried to score on an Evers single but was thrown out at home. Nevertheless, ten Cubs batters resulted in six runs in the inning.

In the bottom of the second, Chance hit his 10th double of the season. But Street caught his 10th base stealer of the season as Chance was gunned down trying to swipe third.

In the bottom of the third, the Cubs again loaded the bases with nobody out. Brown grounded to the pitcher and the lead runner was forced out at home. Evers struck out and there was two away. Tinker drew a base on balls and that scored Slagle. A Chance single compounded with a Smoot error and two more runs scored. The Cubs then scored two more on a Schulte triple. The Cubs again batted around the order and put up a crooked number.

After three: Chicago 11 St Louis 0.

In the top of the sixth, Sheckard kept the shutout alive, throwing McBride out at home as he was trying to score from second on a Street single.

Stoney McGlynn came in to pitch the bottom of the sixth for the Cardinals.

After six: Chicago 11 St Louis 0.

In the bottom of the seventh, Tinker knocked one in with a single.

Schulte added the exclamation, leading off the bottom of the eighth with a home run to hit for the cycle in the game.

Brown ended the destruction with a complete game shutout.

In the top of the first, Schulte hit an RBI double. Steinfeldt added an RBI single.

In the top of the second, the Cubs loaded the bases with two out. Overall then hit Tinker with a pitch. Slagle would score from third but Slagle had to leave the game with an injured hand and was replaced by Solly Hofman. Chance then added a run-scoring single. Two more runs then scored on a Schulte single. The Cubs batted around the order, scoring four runs in the inning.

Huggins led off the bottom of the third with a double to extend his hit streak to 13 games. Seymour brought him home with a single.

After three: Chicago 6 Cincinnati 1.

Rain began to fall in the top of the fourth.

In the bottom of the fourth, Overall singled with runners at second and third and two out. Odwell scored from third but Schlei was thrown out by Slagle trying to score from second.

In the top of the fifth, Sheckard delivered a run-scoring single. However, Sheckard was thrown out trying to steal second, giving Schlei his 30th caught base stealer of the season. A 57 minute rain delay followed the play.

In the top of the seventh, with a runner on second and one out, Cy Morgan took the mound for the Reds. Schulte added to the Cubs lead with an RBI triple. One walk later and Sheckard brought two home with a double.

In the bottom of the eighth, Hofman committed back-to-back errors and the Reds loaded the bases with one out. Carl Lundgren took the mound for the Cubs. Schlei popped to the catcher for the second out. Lobert then came through with a two-run single.

In the top of the ninth, Schulte singled to tie a league record with five hits in the game.

In the bottom of the ninth, Johnny Siegle got an RBI with a sacrifice fly.

The Cubs went on to win despite committing four errors. They out hit the Reds 13-7.

New York Giants C Roger Bresnahan suffered a setback in his recovery from a broken foot and will be out for the next four days.

In the top of the first, the Cubs got on the board on a Sheckard three-bagger that brought home Tinker. Sheckard then scored when Chance grounded to short.

In the bottom of the first, the Giants turned a lead off triple by Donlin into a run with McGann grounding out to second to pick up the RBI.

In the top of the second, Kling hit a two out triple but was injured running the bases and had to leave the game. He was replaced by Pat Moran who would score on a wild pitch.

In the bottom of the second, Moran came through again, this time throwing Browne out as he tried stealing second. It was the 10th time this season a base stealer was caught by Moran.

In the bottom of the third, Donlin tripled for the second time in the game to tie an NL record and brought a run home in the process.

After three: Chicago 3 New York 2.

In the bottom of the fourth, Sheckard dropped a Mertes fly ball, allowing Devlin to score the tying run from second. Dahlen would ground into the 5-4-3 but Mertes would score from third to give the Giants the lead.

In the top of the fifth, Tinker hit into a fielder's choice that allowed Slagle to score from third and the game was tied once again. Sheckard then hit his second triple of the game to score Tinker from first to give the Cubs the lead back.

In the bottom of the sixth, Strang drew a lead off walk for his 30th base on balls of the season. Later, Browne delivered a two-run single and the Giants would retake the lead. Ames then added an RBI single.

After six: New York 7 Chicago 5.

In the bottom of the eighth, Dahlen hit an RBI double.

The Giants would get their ninth win in a row as five unearned runs doomed the Cubs.

Final score: New York 8 Chicago 5.

In the top of the second, Wiltse struck out Slagle for his 40th K of the season. He went on to strike out the side after having given up a lead off single to Steinfeldt.

In the bottom of the second, McGann led off with a triple and then scored when Mertes grounded to second. Wiltse added an RBI single.

In the top of the third, Evers walked for the 20th time this season. But it would lead to nothing for the Cubs.

Strang struck out for the 20th time this season to end the bottom of the first.

In the top of the second, the Cubs had runners at first and second with nobody out. Slagle laid down the sacrifice bunt but Devlin's throw was wild, resulting in a two base error that allowed Steinfeldt to score from second. Moran then brought in a pair with a single.

In the bottom of the second, Browne hit a sacrifice fly to score Devlin and put the Giants on the board. Mertes then swiped second for his 20th stolen base of the season. He would go on to score on a Dahlen ground out to first.

Sheckard led off the top of the third with a walk. It was the 20th free pass issued by McGinnity this season. But he would be caught stealing second.

After three: Chicago 3 New York 2.

Tinker led off the top of the fourth with a double and then moved around the bases on a couple of ground outs with Hofman picking up the RBI.

In the bottom of the fourth, Browne singled to load the bases with one out and extend his hit streak to 11 games. Dahlen then cleared them with a triple to give the Giants the lead. It was his 157th career triple, a new NL record.

McGinnity led off the top of the fifth by striking out Beebe for his 40th K of the season.

After six: New York 5 Chicago 4.

In the top of the eighth, Chance tied the game with an inside the park home run.

The Giants went down in order in the bottom of the ninth and we were headed into extra innings.

After nine: Chicago 5 New York 5.

In the top of the tenth, the Cubs loaded the bases with one out. Tinker then hit a sacrifice fly to score Evers to give the Cubs the lead.

The Giants put a man on first with one out and Bob Wicker came in to pitch for the Cubs. Two fly outs later and the Giants ten game winning streak had finally come to an end.
