Restoring Game Backups

I've backed up a game and when I attempt to restore it asks for a target folder or league name. It doesn't offer a default so I assume there are multiple possible locations and I'm not sure how to choose.

When I restore from a backup, I just make up a league name in the box. Then you can just open that league.

if you changed the directory, you may need to change it back, otherwise it will continue to point at whatever directory you changed it to. if you didn't do anything like that, no worries.

The key point is that a restored league must have a different name

Probably the smartest thing is to regularly zip the entire league file (using software like WinRAR, ect.).

In case you need it all you have to do is to unzip the file and you're set

Agreed! despite all my verbiage re backups I use 7zip as my personal method.

Edit: you still have to watch filenames when unzipping.

remember it works incrementally, too. if ever it is a 'new' backup but not the first backup, you'll want to use the "full copy" option. you'll lose asthetic-only stuff, but stuff you may like, nonetheless. (like box scores or injury reports, news reports etc, but not the core player stats or records etc -- no worries on that stuff, it is always safe with a backup of any kind)

if you ever screw up while playing, you know you saved recently, and you are willing to lose anything between 'now' and that last time you saved -- enter task manager (ctrl-alt-del) and "End Process" ootp18.exe. you wil revert to last saved point.

e.g. i save on opening day... 2 weeks later i realize i left the pitching depth chart undone since demoting players from ST or left rotation chioce of "strict" when i wanted somethign else... i will most definitely revert in that situation. i don't care if someone on my team hit 10hr in one game, it's restarting.

anyway, that 2nd option takes a fraction of the time. and, if you keep a backup it's safe in case of a 1/10^6 chance somethign gets corrupted. (1 in million is being nice, i bet)
