All players have 1 year left on contract

I'm doing a historical league and I know I'm missing something to check or not to check. I can't believe this. And when I check for the upcoming FAs there is no one listed.
Please tell me what i'm doing wrong.

I don’t play historical so I may not be much help, but what year are you in? Is it before free agency started?

2017 and about 2 months in. Maybe it's to soon? But when I click on upcoming FA every team says 0 and I had 2 teams that had 1 player. Everyone has a 1 year contract.
