nobody drafted a rule 5 player

Hi, I just finished my first season with my Orioles franchise, and I got to my first Rule 5 draft. Here's the issue, besides the two guys I picked, not one single player was selected in the draft. I get that not every team wants the burden, but I mean if you're a terrible team like the Royals in my save, one would expect a draft to occur.

Also, I find one thing weird about rule 5 in this game. You have to keep them the whole year? In real life you can just get rid of them and they go back to the original team's minors.

In-game if you release a rule 5 choice he will go to the DFA list of his original team.

in real life the former team can decline to take them back too... they get some modicum of money in their place i think. can google all that anyway.

not sure if that occurs in ootp, but if they sometimes don't go back, that could be perfectly fine too.

I wonder if no one is taking Rule 5 because their 40 man roster is hurting for space. Some of those low place teams have injury trouble or keep recalling guys so the 40 man gets full.

I usually try and keep my 40 man around 35 or lower when rebuilding. Then load up on Rule 5 guys. Because your active roster is Spring Training size.

And some one will always get hurt either on your team or another team. And it will be serious enough for 60 day disabled list which means they are removed from 40. I find those teams are willing to then trade for that Rule 5 pick and keep him on their active. Meanwhile I can pick up an asset.
