Player Roles - Depth & Fringe
Is there any benefit to assigning players as "Depth" or "Fringe Prospect" as supplementary roles. It would seem these would have negative effects on a player, telling them they are a "fringe prospect." But, I assume there is some value, given it's a option.
Also, is there any negative to not assigning supplementary roles to a player? |

Those roles will make the players less likely to be upset by demotions to the minors or back to junior. There's no specific negative to not giving them a supplementary role, you just miss the potential benefits (and the player may be insistent on a particular role, but not often.)

But if they don't like thier role, it'll negatively impact their happiness. Or has that been changed?

It'll only make them unhappy if it's something that really doesn't make sense for them (in the case above, depth or fringe, it'd happen with players who are too good for that status with their current team.)
