Nothing of note happened in the first three innings.

After three: Texas 0 Milwaukee 0.

In the top of the fourth, Porter caught Harrah stealing. It was the tenth base stealer thrown out by Porter this season.

In the top of the fifth, Dent scored from second on a throwing error by Auerbach on a groundball by Suarez with two out. Nelson then brought Suarez home with a double. Maddox scored Nelson with a single as the Rangers got three unearned runs in the inning.

Rain began to fall in the top of the sixth.

And led to a rain delay of 23 minutes in the bottom of the sixth. When play resumed, Monday brought Porter home for a single for his 10th RBI of the season.

After six: Texas 3 Milwaukee 1.

Harrah led off the top of the eighth with a home run. Mangual added his first RBI of the season on a sacrifice fly. Kubiak then added a two run homer for the Rangers 10th hit of the game. That was all she wrote for Lonborg as Skip Lockwood took the mound with two outs in the inning.

The barrage of long balls continued in the top of the ninth as Nelson led off with a home run.

Final score: Texas 8 Milwaukee 1.

In the bottom of the second, Yasztremski had to leave the game when he injured his leg advancing from first to third on an Evans single. He was replaced by Ben Oglivie. Petrocelli then brought both runners home with a double.

The Rangers loaded the bases with one out in the top of the third. Harrah went down on strikes for the second out. But then Burroughs tied the game with a two run single.

In the bottom of the third, Evans gave the Red Sox the lead back with a run-scoring single.

After three: Boston 3 Texas 2.

In the top od the fourth, the Rangers loaded the bases with nobody out. Suarez then brought Dent home with a sacrifice fly and the game was tied once again. A Nelson single then loaded the bases with one out. But Maddox struck out and there were two down. Harrah then knocked in two with a single to give the Rangers the lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, Smith delivered an RBI single. Cooper then tied the game with an RBI single, the Red Sox 10th hit of the game. Oglivie then gave the Red Sox the lead back with a two run triple.

After six: Boston 7 Texas 5.

In the top of the seventh, Kubiak hit a two out triple for the Rangers 10th hit of the game. But was stranded there when Suarez struck out to retire the side.

Pete Broberg took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the seventh.

Evans led off the bottom of the eighth with a home run for his 10th RBI of the season. Smith then added a three run homer.

Grieve then hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth. With one out, Fred Beene replaced Tiant on the mound for the Red Sox and finished off the game.

In the top of the first, the Rangers loaded the bases with nobody out. Grieve then grounded into the 4-6-3, scoring Nelson but failing to pick up the RBI. Harrah then scored on a passed ball.

In the bottom of the first, Fisk gave the Red Sox the lead with a three run homer that put him over 20 RBI on the season. Yastrzemski added a two run homer. As did Petrocelli giving the Red Sox 7 runs in the first inning as 11 men came to the plate.

In the bottom of the second, the Red Sox loaded the bases with one out. Evans hit a 2-run single to give the Red Sox their 10th hit of the game. Petrocelli walked to reload the bases. Garcia delivered an run-scoring single for his 10th RBI of the season. Beniquez then brought Evans home with a sacrifice fly. Nine men came to bat in the inning.

The bottom of the third led off with Bosman striking out Smith for his 10th K of the season.

After three: Boston 11 Texas 2.

Curtis ended the top of the fourth by striking out Kubiak for his 20th K of the season.

In the bottom of the fourth, Petrocelli scored on a throwing error. Garcia then scored on a Beniquez single. Smith added a two run homer. Fisk followed up with a solo home run, his second home run of the game. Another inning that saw nine Red Sox come up to bat.

In the top of the fifth, it was Harrah with an RBI single. Burroughs then walked to load the bases with nobody out. Grieve brought Nelson home with a sacrifice fly. Harrah then scored a run on a Dent single.

In the top of the sixth, Kubiak scored on a Nelson groundout.

In the bottom of the sixth, Smith hit a two out single and the Rangers finally pulled Bosman and replaced him with Pete Broberg. A walk later and Cooper got an RBI single. It was his fifth hit of the game, tying a team record.

In the top of the seventh, Dent smashed a two run homer for the Rangers 10th hit of the game.

Evans led off the bottom of the seventh for the Red Sox 20th hit of the game.

Grieve led off the top of the ninth with a single and Curtis was finally pulled and Bill F Lee took the mound for the Red Sox. The Red Sox also committed their third error of the game in the ninth. A walk to Kubiak loaded the bases with two out. Suarez then grounded to short to end the game.

The two teams combined for 33 hits.

Hand faced on hitter before leaving the game with an injury. Bill Castro replaced him on the mound with a runner on first and one out in the top of the first. Two outs later, Blomberg hit a 2 run homer.

In the bottom of the sixth, Konieczny tied a Yankees record for walks in a game with 8. With runners at first and second with one out, Wayne Garland replaced Konieczny. Maddox singled to load the bases. Harrah drew a walk to bring home Suarez. Burroughs struck out there were two down. Grieve then also struck out to end the inning.

In the top of the third, Rivers knocked one in with a triple.

Nelson led off the bottom of the eighth with a single and Tom Murphy replaced Messersmith on the mound for the Angels. After a sacrifice bunt by Maddox, Nelson swiped third for his 10th stolen base of the season. But was stranded there as neither Harrah nor Burroughs could bring him home.

With one out in the top of the ninth, Bobby Tolan hit a pinch hit home run to give the Angels the lead. It was the Angels 10th hit of the game.

In the bottom of the third, Mayberry knocked one in with a single as the Royals took advantage of two Rangers errors in the inning.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Royals scored one on a Patek single. Wohlford singled to load the bases with two out. Then came a 2-RBI single by Otis. Then Mayberry got an RBI single for the Royals 10th hit of the game. Nine men batted for the Royals in the inning.

Pete Broberg took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the sixth. The Rangers committed their third error of the game and Wohlford made them by with a run-scoring single to reach 20 RBI on the season.

The top of the seventh began with Ruthven striking out Mangual for his 50th K of the season. He then struck out Kubiak for his 10th K of the game. The Rangers came back in the inning to get a 2-RBI double by Maddox. Maddox reached double digits in RBI on the season with that hit.

Ruthven ended the top of the eighth by striking out Mangual. This tied a Royals team record for strikeouts in a game with 12.

Ruthven began the ninth by walking Kubiak and was replaced by Stan Thomas. 4 pitches later, the game was over.
