I'm done with this game

Not really.

But I'm so frustrated. I've been in gold for 8 seasons, I've had 4 100 win seasons including the last three, but never got out of the first round.

This year we won the most games in the league with 102. But the second-best team, with 98 wins, was also in our division, so we played them in the first round. That's right, the two best teams in the entire league had to meet each other in the first round. We got swept. Absolutely unbelievable lmao.

I find that happens quite often. Random league re-seeding will do that.

Do you want to post your roster here?

I would love to see your team.....and see if there are areas that can be improved or things we can be jealous of.

I am sure you are already a top team based on your comments but to be honest when we all joined the Orcin points league a while back, we all learned different things from each other despite having teams that won Perfect league championships.

- strategy settings, ballpark settings, players to target for great contact, defensive focus, ...

I feel your pain. I have gone to game 7 a few times in the championship and lost.

Or lost a series because there was a fight, ejection, and lack of pitchers with good stamina.

Also my park is high average/low home runs (maybe should change that)?

And for strategy I am very sabermetric. No steals, bunts, high favor splits and infield shifts

Are the discussions in Orcin points league posted here? I am interested to read what was discussed.

I won my Gold Series after 4 seasons in Gold (1 silver, TEN bronze) and we have 4 players in common. Rivera, Doolittle (he went 0.00 ERA for me as a lefty specialist), Dierker, JD Martinez. After barely finishing above .500 for 2 seasons in gold, I added 97 R. Johnson and 96 Smoltz and won 118 games. This team if F2P.

Personally, I have had the most luck with parks that are not too big on platoons (just a slight favor for LHBs), high in doubles (1.400), high in triples (1.350), and very low on HRs (.900 to .920).

I tend to look for players that can get on base and create some chaos on the base path (Eddie Collins, Ty Cobb, Ozzie Smith, …) but that is just me enjoying that part of the game.

As for pitchers, focus on high movement (preferably around 80).
You really want to keep your opponents from scoring HRs.

Here is one of my teams with only silver batters. It won Diamond championship this week.
C: Boone/Pena
1B: Dan Murphy
2B: Gilliam/Simmons
3B: Pesky/Kell
SS: Ozzie Smith
LF: Slaughter/Medwick
CF: Ashburn/Ichiro
RF: Garr/Medwick
DH: 71 Pete Rose

My other team that won several championships in Perfect still uses the 78 Ozzie Smith card but you can also look at Omar Vizquel.

I really try to have a good defensive team. If my main player is not 80+ in defense, I try to make sure I have a defensive backup listed in the lineup that comes in towards the end of the game (7-8th inning).

I also used 2B Eddy Collins this season and he performed extremely well against RHPs. I think he is still one of my earliest players and tends to hold almost all records on my team.

You have a lot of Gold card players but many of them will have to be replaced down the road. They just don't tend to produce anymore

2b Jose Altuve - I would look for an alternative. Personally, I like the gold card Eddy Collins.
He tends to be cheap, gets lots of steals, and gets on Base against RHPs.

lf Richie Ashburn - I have used him and like him but also like 87 Tony Gwynn for the outfield.

dh J.D. Martinez - He is hit and miss. For some reason, I was never able to get him to really produce consistently.

3b Howard Johnson - I am not too fond of his poor defensive skills.

Rf Bryce Harper - Try a platoon split with players that make more contact and don't strike out.

cf Lorenzo Cain - You can try to move Ashburn to CF. He is a slightly better defender. As you move up, you will encounter more and more RHPs and Cain tends to do better against LHPs.

c Buster Posey - I would really move on from Buster. I believe in giving my pitchers as much help as possible so I don't look for offense but best catcher ability and arm (100+). Boone/Pena are reasonable Silver options but there are also a few Gold ones.

ss Luis Aparicio - Great defense but if you can afford it, try to get the 78 Ozzie Smith.

At lower levels, I also kept Andrelton Simmons as a utility player. You can
train him to be a defensive superstar at 1B, 2B, 3B, SS (100+ defense).
It will take some time to get him that high but he will be handy when you
want extra defense.

As for other strategy settings, take a look at your bullpen and how often they are exhausted. Yellow (tired) pitchers tend to do more poorly.
Also, if you see that your starters often give up lots of earned runs and never get pulled, adjust the strategy slider to get them out a little quicker.

Good luck next season....looks like you are already very close to winning it all.
