Exclamation Trouble with FaceGen or 3D not working? See here!

OOTP 18 utilizes some advanced OpenGL features now, which may be problematic on a small number of systems. So, in order to fix the problems we need your help.

But first, please make sure you install the latest version of drivers for your graphics card! Often outdated drivers are the reason for 3D / Facegen problems.

OOTP 18 needs at least support for OpenGL 1.4, but support for OpenGL 2.0 is recommended. This is supported by most graphic cards with up-to-date drivers.

We suggest playing around with the OpenGL settings (Game Settings -> Facegen & 3D tab), you could try setting the "Open GL Shader Mode" to "Disable OpenGL shader" for example, this will ensure the game works with older systems that only support OpenGL 1.4.

If it still does not work, we need to know your exact system specs which can be obtained by an application called Opengl Caps viewer. You can download it here:
Download OpenGL Caps Viewer.

After you installed & started it, click on the tools tab and then on "export data" (see image). In the new window click on "txt export" (see image). Please post the text file here or simply copy and paste the text directly.

Markus- I posted my report above.

3d loads. But while watching cannot see any animation.

The pbp indicates a base hit so on the next pitch a runner appears on 1st.
He advances according to the results of the next play but just appears
at the next base- no animation of the pitch or the action. Fielders do not move at all, just stationary

I tested it with stadium that comes with the game and also with a mod
stadium I downloaded. It both instances no animation.

Is it a processor issue?

Ok, I tested the game with version .30. I now have some animation.
It's choppy at times, and at times I get two balls on the
field at the same time. Almost like the 2nd ball acts as a
shadow of the ball that was put in play.

That said, at least I see some animation since the upgrade to .30 so
it has been a big improvement.

Can someone help me?
I was putting logos and uni's into a new league I was doing and some of my facegens disappeared. This is what I'm left with right now and it's bugging the hell outta me.
Please Help! I'm on a mac BTW





I thought it was just facegens so because I'm addicting I decided to play another day.
I go to play my game and this is what I see.

3D working well for historical exhibition, but when I import my custom game from 17 only text version working, immediately crashing if I click start game with 3D selected.
Any ideas? Drivers have been updated , using Dell support, I have uploaded the game to the FTP site
I play on a Dell Inspiron 15R 5521

OK, it's resolved, for me. See post #13 in that thread. Here's a couple of suggestions:
  • All of your OEM 3D stadiums should adhere to the same standards of display. What those are, I haven't a clue, but if 27 of them work one way, then they all should work the same. I should not have needed to experiment with these arcane settings to get 3 of the stadiums to display properly. If I had a crappy laptop, then I would expect to see all 30 stadiums fail and then I would have no excuse or alternative but to tinker with these settings.
  • Speaking of those settings, why put them into the game for the user to change without explaining them anywhere? They are not in the online manual, unless I missed them. Now, before you dismiss this, consider: I, Mr. Average Player, had to go find these settings and tinker with them to use a basic feature of your game. Either the feature should work as designed across the board (all 30 stadiums), or you should point to and explain these settings in documentation somewhere. Perhaps both.

Facegen Issue

Thumbnail pics of every player to play in the first game of a new season disappeared on starting the 3d game. During the game all my players showed the sillhouette only (opposing team all players fine) and now every player that played has no face on thumbnail. (Note that all player profile pages still have pics)

I did a force refresh of facegen and it made no difference - pic is after that regen! I only played 1 game so can restart a new save and try again, but any idea how to fix if it happens again?

FIXED - SEE FINAL EDIT BELOW.

EDIT:

OOTP 17 works fine, as does a different world/league in OOTP 18. Seems there something wrong with my league.

What file might be corrupted causing this crash? What file does the game access once it tries to go to 3D mode? I have facegen off by default, BTW (never used it).

EDIT 2: I can watch 3D highlights from prior games without issue.

So, whenever I try to start a game in my league, in 3D only, in any division (majors, AAA, etc.) the game crashes.

FINAL EDIT - A backup then restore from that backup seems to have fixed this!?!

All was good until today.

Then, just today, I got the the "you need OPENGL 1.4" popup when stating OOTP. So, I did windows update AND the NVIDIA drivers - now it just crashes when I try to start a 3D game.

I can start a ballgame in BROADCAST view but switching to 3D crashes the game instantly. OOTP starts just fine - it's just when you try and do a 3D game.
