Sanguine Edges Closer to Top in OL S273

The Classics went 6-2 yesterday, to pull even closer to Asylum. The Keepers were 12-6 to hold onto first. Third place New York was 14-9. Melaka, 7-1, and Arkham, 14-7, both were hot, but will need serious slumps by all the contenders to get back into the crown chase.

The top five all have at least 15 OL games remaining, so it should be a contentious battle for the crown. Sanguine would seem the most well placed, with all 15 at home, none against any of the top five. Asylum has 18 left, half on the road. Their final 15 PT games are all against the OL. New York has 17 to go, but 10 as visitors. CliffMarkle will be the busiest team, playing 26 OL games, including their last dozen. Eleven are away games. Pablo has the most daunting task, with 16 of their remaining 22 OL games on the road.

I hesitate to mention this, for fear of owner reprisals, but, during the week, I make a single pass through the standings to post them before work. I seem to have put Sanguine's 4 wins against New York in the Melaka column (they're right next each other). It was fixed today, but I hope the resulting drop in the Patriots standing won't cause Magus to take it out on his players.

Have a birthday party to attend today, so I won't be checking in until this evening some time. Good luck to all down the stretch. Gotta go bake a birthday cake.

Diamond league standings:

Waffletown slips back a bit in August, but still holds the top spot, with the Pilots closing the gap.

overall picture... AC East - Motown slides down to 4th place in the division, but only 6.5 off the pace. AC Central - Cooper hovers just 2 games off the division lead and holds down the top wild car spot; with the Seattle Pilots 9.5 games back in 4th place. AC West - Seattle Endless Summer holds down the 2nd wild card spot as they look to make up the 6 game deficit and nab the division crown. NC East - Waffletown stumbled a bit in August but still holds a 3.5 game lead in the division; and California sits in 3rd place but has closed the gap to just 4 games. NC Central - Cincinnati, Roncalli and Transylvania sit 2-3-4 in the division, but a distant 13, 13.5 and 14 games back. NC West - Chippewa rides a 3 game win streak into September, but still sits 14 games off the pace. Luckenbach has moved up to 4th place and appears to be comfortably out of relegation territory.

G316 Update

Redmond keeps a firm grip on first place as the season heads into the final lap

Redmond and Harlem play their final 3 games against each other. Harlem has 3 additional OL games against Texas. I believe the only way Harlem can take the crown is if they win all of their remaining OL games.

Based on that, I think Redmond's magic number is 1

Non OL-standings
  • Victoria has a firm grasp on the AC Central
  • Shasta leads Ozark by a comfortable amount in the AC West
  • Ozark and Annandale are potential wild card teams in the AC
  • Harlem has a commanding lead in the NC East
  • Redmond leads the NC Wild Card by a good amount
So we will get between 4 and 6 OL teams in the playoffs.

There are a few teams in the bottom third of the league, but barring any late season collapses, no one is in danger of relegation.

Code:
Our League Standings - G316 - Sep 2, 2035
			 W L	Pct
Redmond Defenders	17 8	.680
Harlem Hatchets 25	16	.610
Victoria Vikings	18	14	.563
Ozark Bobcats 20	16	.556
Janesville Onyx 19	17	.528
Annandale Atom Smashers	16	16	.500
Tacoma Aroma 18	24	.429
Shasta Black Bears	14	24	.368
Texas Strangers 15	27	.357

The Hatchets took 2 of 3 from Texas, HOWEVER, they are about to begin a 4 game series against Tacoma, before their final 3 against Redmond. So technically, Harlem has more life left, though they have a losing record against both Redmond and Tacoma.

Bobcats just picked up Rickey Henderson as their lead-off hitter. Thanks again to the person that told me Ted Lyons was selling for 45,000 PP. I think I paid 9K for him!!!!

He will start the last three games and the Bobcats still have a chance for the playoffs.

That the special edition Rickey? If so, I got him on my bronze Boppers. Bat's not great as far as average goes, at least this season. Hitting just .261

Playoffs are not quite set in S273...Asylum and Pablo will fight for the AC Central crown at 95-67. Loser will get the 1st wildcard and host the non-OL Historical Baseball Club, which finished at 81-81, narrowly edging out the Daytona Beach Pickleballers, who lost 3 in a row to finish at 80-82. Despite a 4-game win streak to end the season, Port Ruppert could not claw all the way back either, also finishing 80-82.

Down at the bottom, Asheboro (67-95) will be relegated back to Bronze. Sadly they are becoming a bit of a yo-yo team at the moment.

Asylum Ends 15 Season Wait: Wins OL S273 Crown

No team could mount a late charge, allowing the Keepers to maintain their lead with an 11-8 sim. Pablo had the most impressive run, going 14-9 despite a raft of road games.

While Count Five blasts the team's theme song, "Psychotic Reaction," "fans" and staff celebrate the end of the drought.

While searching for a picture of Count Five, one of the quintessential "One-Hit Wonders," I same across this. "Psychotic Reaction" went gold!

nice pickup!

still sitting on my Lyons proceeds.... was watching one auction but the price went up higher than I wanted to spend on em, so figured I'd wait and see what pops up today.... Sunday is typically a good house cleaning day so might get some decent offers...

Diamond league update:

Waffletown takes care of business down the stretch and holds off a push from Motown to secure their second OL Diamond league crown.

In the big picture.... Motown fell 1 game short of the AC East division title, and 4 games back of a wild card spot). In the AC Central, Cooper finished 7 games back of the division lead, but managed to secure the 2nd wild card position. The Seattle Pilots finished in 4th place, 12 games back. In the AC West, the Seattle Endless Summer finished in 2nd place, but landed the top wild card spot. In the NC East, Waffletown topped their previous best year ever by 1 and secured the division title. California pushed hard to stay in the race and secured the 2nd wild card spot. In the NC Central, Roncalli, Cincinnati and Transylvania finished 2-3-4, but a distant 15, 19 and 21 games back of the lead. In the NC West, Chippewa and Luckenbach finished 2-3 in the division, but not high enough to contend for a wild card spot.

No Diamond league OL teams will be relegated.

Bronze Playoff tree and Standings

Don't have time to compile OL standings but I haven't seen this posted. The max of 9 OL teams have made the playoffs (One division has no OL teams). Good luck to all in the playoffs across all levels of play.

For anyone that has doubted the impact of park effects: I built my latest team around left-handing hitting, groundball pitchers and 100+ defense up the middle. Cranked down everything I could to the lowest level possible with the exception of LHB AVG.

Home: 60-21
Away: 33-48

Maybe these are common results, but they are definitely the most robust I have seen among my teams while playing around with different settings.
