Online leagues. Only sim or can you manage a game?

In the OOTPXX online leagues, are you able to actually manage a game vs. someone else in real time? Or are the online leagues only for simulation games?

I haven't bought the game yet. I'm hoping to find a game where I can manage a team against a friend online.

Just to clarify, I'm not looking to "play" as the players. Just looking to manage the game as if I'm the coach. Like the good old days of Earl Weaver Baseball. But online against friends.

I'm almost 100% positive, but not FULLY 100%, that what you are seeking is not possible in the game. It would be incredibly hard to be able to find 15-30 people who could be online at the same time every day or week to be able to pull it off a la world of warcraft.

Ah, okay, thanks for the reply. I'm probably looking for something that doesn't exists. I don't mean a huge group game like that, I just want to be able to have a team of my own, where I can coach the simulation, batter by batter (swing away, bunt, hit and run, steal, etc), against a friend who is doing the same thing on his computer at his home. Not controlling the players like on Playstation, just coaching the team as the computer simulates the game.

Probably doesn't exist. Earl Weaver Baseball used to be like that, but it's a 25 year old game - and of course, it wasn't an online thing, both coaches had to sit at the same computer.
