My pitcher is leaving to join the Air Force

I have been playing OOTP for a long time, and I have seen some weird stuff over the years. This one might be the strangest thing I have seen yet. My number 2 starter is leaving baseball to join the military.

Would it be an A-hole move to trade him before he goes to boot camp?

I think its crazier that its 2027 and the Marlins havent rebranded again.

wouldn't a team get some sort of compensation for losing a player joining the military in real life ???

You could turn off storylines. I'm not sure if you can find a way to re-assign him to the Marlins, but I'm sure someone can come up with one.

I actually enjoy the storylines for the most part. This one just seemed really random and took me by surprise. And, as far as reassigning him, I play in Commish mode, so there is not much I can really do.

You can only put him back on the Marlins if you're in Commish Mode. You can just go into his Editor page, and put him back on the Marlins if you want, but it sounds like you want the storylines on so maybe you should just leave it the way it is. As one of the old timers on this forum used to say..."It's your game...Play it your way."

If the player is drafted or otherwise summoned to military service, he goes on the Military List, at which point he stops counting against both the reserve and active lists and can be replaced by another player. In effect, the Military List operates similarly to the 60-day DL. Once the player is discharged from military service, he only starts counting against the reserve and active lists after either a 15-day trial period or has participated in a regular season game, whichever comes first.

If he is joining the service of his own accord, then presumably he voluntarily resigned from baseball before doing so, in which case the player goes on the Voluntarily Retired List. Players on this list do not count against either the reserve or active lists, allowing the club to replace the player. A player on this list must be on it for at least 60 days before he can apply for reinstatement, and cannot be reinstated from the list between Aug. 1st through Oct. 31st.

I had 2 teammates start a nightclub, and then like a week later they both got suspended for breaking "team curfew" and not putting as much time into the team as they did the nightclub lol
