10 years 5 with club

Otherwise known as 10/5 rule ... I am wondering will there be a news about player or warning that the player is approaching 10/5 level incase I want to trade the player beforehand ??? Reason I ask is because there were a few players I had wanted to trade just before the rule kicks in for that player but I kept playing not realizing I had missed it.

IF it's not in the game then it would be a nice addition. Might want to post it over in the What would I like to see in OOTP forum.

Personally, I don't think the game should be reminding you when you should be trading your players. We could think about adding a note on the players' contract page telling you how close they are to reaching that point, but I would not have it be anything that pro-actively warns you.

I agree. If you don't catch it, that's on you. Something added to the area of the player profile where it gives you contract information, arbitration eligibility, option years, etc. would be fine. But the most it should be is something on the player profile that you can easily look up if you want to. But there should be nothing that pops up to alert you.

Tangential question. Is there a variable in the code that would cause a 10/5 player to allow a trade?

I would hope so. In fact, I would hope that the player allowing the trade is the norm and the vetoing would be the more rare occurrence.

It's based on player mood, and how much the player likes the teams involved.

And I would say that most 10/5 guys should block most trades - they do get dealt in real life, but it's not too common, and we don't know all the potential deals that they end up rejecting.

I've never once had a 10/5 guy allow a trade to go through.

The willingness of the team trading for the guy to guarantee the team option at the end of the contract seems to be a great motivator to waive no-trade clauses or 10/5 rights in most cases...

Yes, unfortunately we don't have the capabilities to "guarantee" options ahead of time. That will take a while to get into the game.

10/5 acts similarly to a no-trade clause in-game, right?

Anyway, my method for 10/5 notifications is to just use the manager notes system for reminders.

Just started playing 16, and I never played 15, but back in OOTP14 I saw a few 10/5 rule guys get traded. It only seemed to happen a day or two before the trade deadline, and their current team was usually tanking.

The one I remember was a trade I was involved in, where I was able to pick up Miguel Cabrera from the Tigers for 2 pitching prospects and a utility infielder. Tigers were in last place and Cabrera was not happy. Earlier in the year I had tried trading for him, and he had exercised the rule on me.

Long reply, but it does happen! At least it did in OOTP14

There IS a notification for upcoming 10/5 rights.

Start a Toronto QS and you will see it in your task list for Jose Bautista.

I know it is based off of their mood. So basically just bench them and eventually there will be some teams that they're willing to go to.

I saw the message on manager page saying my player had 10/5 eligible soon .... am curious will there be a future addition where the player might offer a club they willing to be traded to and waive the 10/5

Oh I'm not concerned. I'd never bench a player to force a trade in that way.
