Big Crashing issue No support response
I purchased the game on November 8th. Installed it and after activating it I couldn't click on Historic Game (Main reason I bought the game). I exited out and tried again. This time I could click on it. I want to start on 1997 so I selected that, turned on Auto Expansion, left everything else off, then I named the game and pressed "OK". The games gets to "Generating Attributes" and freezes at usually either 33 or 35%. I get the rainbow wheel(MAC) and it just stays there.
Then I tried a regular game just to see if anything was working. Regular game worked just fine until my first game. When I went to watch the game as soon as I hit play the game crashes and exits. I went back in and tried sim to end... same thing. Went back in a third time and tried sim period.... same thing. November 9th I tried some more then I opened a support ticket (#10719). Then while waiting for a response I tried uninstalling and re-installing.. Same issues. Then out of curiosity I tried starting a Historic game on different years. The results varied: Year 2000 only got to 6% generating attributes 1996-1993 got stuck at between 30-50% 1992 actually loaded up but then I got the empty team bug. Its now November 10th and I still can't play the game I paid for 48 hours ago. I understand I opened the support ticket on a Sunday but I still don't understand why its been all day today and I haven't heard anything. I hope this can be resolved quickly because even with the problems I am still hoping to be able to enjoy this game. Alternately, I was wondering if anyone else knew any fixes for this issue or if you had the same troubles |

Check and make sure every team has a full roster. Only takes one team to be short player(s) for the game to crash.

How would I go about checking that? Also why would a fresh install of the game have missing players?

It has happened a lot with my league(s). One player missing shuts the game down.
Each team has a roster page. At the bottom right you can click so the roster fills up. OOTP has an automatically fills roster with fictional players tab but FHM doesn't have the same option. It would make it a lot easier. |

Ok I will try that. That might fix one issue but not my inability to play a historical game

I asked our support guy about it, he should contact you asap.
Just to clarify something for me: it does not crash, right? It (looks) like it stays at that step forever?

Yes it just gets hung up on generating attributes. If it were PC it would be "not responding" it just doesnt exit the game.

Strange, I just started a 1997 game with your settings without problems on my Mac Book.
Can you please verify that your game is version 1.6.19?

Yes. Version 1.6 Build 19 is what it says. I have Mac OS 10.7.5 if that helps.

That should make no difference.
The freeze sounds like a db bug we had way back but if we both have 1.6.19 installed we should have the same db and since it works on my Mac there is no reason why it should not work on yours. Just to be 100% sure, can you navigate to your FHM folder (./Username/Library/Application Support/Out of the Park Developments/Franchise Hockey Manager 2014/) and delete the data folder there. Then remove your FHM app from the Programs folder and do a clean install. Then try again.

Hmm this may be my problem... Im at work right now but I know for a fact that I dont have a OOTP folder in my library because I was looking for it to uninstall and it wasnt there. What could cause that?
When I installed the game I downloaded the .dmg from your site then dragged and dropped the FHM app into the applications folder did I miss a step? |

Thinking about it im almost 100% its not there. Also I remember when I installed the game (via the drag and drop) it never ran an installer. It just copied to the applications folder.

It should copy the stuff during the first start of the game.

Sebastian,
Thank you so much for your help. I followed what you said... Apparently the regular "Library" folder you see when you click Mac HD isnt the one I needed to be looking in. What you need to do is use "Go to Folder" to find "~/Library" once there I found the OOTP folder and deleted the Data folder and then freshly installed the game. I'm glad to report that everything seems to be working perfectly! Thank you again! Freddy |
