So, so many LIVE cards. The only live card I like here is Rendon, the rest shouldn't be seeing the light of day above gold and will get dominated in Perfect. I'd sell a lot of that framework, especially the live diamond pitchers, and go get some good, cheap pitching like Matlack, Sheets, Bumgarner, or even do the sets for Vida or Brecheen. And get a better defensive SS for sure.

EDIT: The main takeaway that the vast majority of players miss are that overalls don't matter. Honestly, I'd just filter by non-Live SPs with 90+ OVR under 20k and look over the list to get a sense of how much better they can be.

As he said, need to replace a lot of those live SP's. I wouldn't be surprised if you were better off running the Corbin and Halladay than some of those guys once you hit Diamond...

But first of all get a defensive wizard at SS, at least 100 Defense. I'm partial to Joe Cronin 89, pulled mine from pack and he started for 3-4 seasons. Just meh offensively but he does hit a ton of doubles which gives him some RBI ability, just put him in 9 spot and let him make your pitchers look good. You also need a backup SS/2B...

I like how the OP has managed to mend the George Sisler schism by combining the 84 and 94 versions into one 89 version. I wish I could do that. For the sake of tournaments.

I'd also recommend one of the many, many LHB options for your DH. Prices are very reasonable for SE Will Clark, SE Keith Hernandez, SE Prince Fielder, SE Joey Votto, SE Don Mattingly. And I'm not just saying that because I have Hernandez and Fielder up for sale right now...

This team is a problem. You will do well in diamond and get promoted soon. Then you’ll get pummeled in perfect for a season or two before being relegated back to diamond. Then the process will repeat itself ad infinitum. Either spend hundreds of dollars or get lucky with a pack. If your goal is to compete in perfect and not spend money, don’t waste your time in the auction house.

The Bronze Aparicio and Lavalliere are consistently two of the best defensive replacements around for the budget conscious. Little Louis can be trained often to be effective at 1b, 2b, and 3b as well. Trained one of mine so he's over 100 at all 4 IF positions...wish I could teach him to catch.

Correa, Torre, and Altuve in my experience are worthless at Diamond and above. I've also had very poor luck with Vlad Jr.

Don't compromise on defense—a guy with 90+ defense and so-so hitting is still winning you more games than a guy with 80 hitting and 20's/30's defense (not going to mention you specifically, Hack Wilson or Sam Crawford...but if you aren't a DH you're sucker bait).

Good luck!
