In the bottom of the first, the Colt .45's loaded the bases with one out. Larker flew to right for the second out without bringing home a run. Smith then lined to short to retire the side and the Colt .45's had failed to score.

In the top of the second, Ellsworth put the Cubs on the board with a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the third, Pendleton injured his leg catching a flyball and had to leave the game. He was replaced by Don Taussig. Altman would score from third when Santo grounded to second.

After three: Chicago 2 Houston 0.

In the top of the sixth, a Hubbs two-out single scored one.

After six: Chicago 3 Houston 0.

In the bottom of the seventh, a two-out RBI single by Spangler gave the Colt .45's their first ever run in franchise history.

In the top of the ninth, Bertell got an RBI double. Altman added a two-out run-scoring single. With runners at first and second and two out, Dean Stone took the mound for the Colt .45's and got Banks to ground out to retire the side.

In the bottom of the ninth, Barney Schultz took the mound for the Cubs with a four-run lead to protect. With a runner on first and one out, pinch hitter Merritt Ranew grounded into the game-ending 5-4-3.

The Cubs got 10 hits in the win.

In the bottom of the fourth, the first ever home run in Colt .45's history was hit by the pitcher as Farrell extended the lead with a 415 foot three-run shot.

In the top of the fifth, Banks led off with a four-pitch walk to give the Cubs their first baserunner of the game.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Colt .45's loaded the bases with nobody out. Amalfitano drew a four-pitch walk to bring home a run. Larker scored from third when Ranew grounded to first. An intentional walk reloaded the bases with one out. Aspromonte scored from third when Farrell grounded to first.

In the top of the sixth, a one-out double by Taylor gave the Cubs their first hit of the game. Williams put the Cubs on the board with a two-out RBI single. A walk followed to load the bases with two out before Banks popped up to short to retire the side.

In the bottom of the sixth, Tony Balsamo took the mound for the Cubs. Larker got an RBI with a sacrifice fly.

After six: Houston 8 Chicago 1.

In the top of the eighth, Taylor belted a 393 foot lead off home run. Williams added a 377 foot two-out solo home run.

In the bottom of the eighth, Bob Anderson took the mound for the Cubs.

After winning two out of three at home against the Chicago Cubs to begin their inaugural season, the Colt .45's embark on an eight-game road trip that begins with a four-game series in Philadelphia against the Phillies. The first game of the series is tonight. Friday the 13th.

The Colt .45's signed pitching coach Warren Bartholomew to a 1-year, $3,640 per year contract.

In the bottom of the third, the Phillies loaded the bases with one out. Short popped into the infield fly rule for the second out. Gonna then singled to score one run but, on the play, Mejias threw Savage out at home as he tried to score from second.

In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on third and one out, Woodeshick left the game with a foot injury. Jim Golden took the mound for the Colt .45's. Demeter brought the run home with a single.

In the top of the fifth, Smith got a one-out double for the Colt .45's first hit of the game. Pendleton followed with a 355 foot two-run homer.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Phillies scored a run on a Wine double.

In the top of the sixth, the Colt .45's loaded the bases with nobody out. Aspromonte cut on and missed on a full count pitch for the first out. Larker then grounded into the 4-6-3 and the Colt .45's came away empty handed.

In the bottom of the sixth, Dalrymple sailed a two-out solo home run 397 feet. Savage added an RBI single. Wine brought Savage home with a single.

After six: Philadelphia 11 Houston 2.

In the bottom of the seventh, Dean Stone took the mound for the Colt .45's. Sievers hit a solo home run 379 feet.

In the bottom of the eighth, Wes Covington scored from third when pinch hitter Frank Torre beat out the 4-6-3.

In the top of the ninth, Jim Owens took the mound for the Phillies with Philadelphia ahead by eleven runs. Mercifully, the Colt .45's went three up and three down.

The Philadelphia scored in every inning they came to bat and outhit the Colt .45's 23-3.

In the bottom of the third, the Colt .45's had runners at the corners and nobody out. Mejias grounded to short but Gotay's throw to second sailed into the outfield, allowing Spangler to score the game's first run. Larker singled to load the bases with nobody out. Buddin then scored from third when Aspromonte grounded to third. Mejias scored from third when Amalfitano grounded to first. With two out, Larker scored on a wild pitch.

In the top of the sixth, White parked a three-run homer 387 feet in the stands to make it a one-run game. A gigantic two-out two-run 485 foot blast off the bat of Oliver gave the Cardinals the lead.

In the top of the fifth, the Cardinals got their first baserunner of the game when Warwick got a two-base hit with two out.

In the bottom of the fifth, Buddin scored from second on a Larker single combined with a Musial error. Aspromonte added a sacrifice fly for an RBI. Larker then scored on a two-out triple by Amalfitano.

In the bottom of the sixth, Paul Toth took the mound for the Cardinals.

In the top of the seventh, a 404 foot three-run shot by Warwick with two out made it a brand new ballgame. Gotay made it a one-run game with an RBI triple.

In the bottom of the seventh, Ed Bauta took the mound for the Cardinals.

In the top of the ninth, with a runner on first and one out, Jim Umbricht took the mound for the Colt .45's. With runners at second and third and two out, Umbricht got pinch hitter Fred Whitfield looking to pick up the save.

The Colt .45's got 10 hits in the win.

The Braves got 12 hits in the win.
