Exclamation Trouble with FaceGen or 3D crashes? See here!

OOTP 16 utilizes some advanced OpenGL features now, which may be problematic on a small number of systems. So, in order to fix the problems we need your help.

But first, please make sure you install the latest version of drivers for your graphics card! Often outdated drivers are the reason for 3D / Facegen problems.

OOTP 16 needs at least support for OpenGL 1.4, but support for OpenGL 2.0 is recommended. This is supported by most graphic cards with up-to-date drivers.

We suggest playing around with the OpenGL settings (Game Settings -> Facegen & 3D tab), you could try setting the "Open GL Shader Mode" to "Disable OpenGL shader" for example, this will ensure the game works with older systems that only support OpenGL 1.4.

If it still does not work, we need to know your exact system specs which can be obtained by an application called Opengl Caps viewer. You can download it here:
Download OpenGL Caps Viewer.

After you installed & started it, click on the tools tab and then on "export data" (see image). In the new window click on "txt export" (see image). Please post the text file here or simply copy and paste the text directly.

Hey GoBucsGo,
it looks like you simply need to update the drivers of your graphics card.
The report shows you have a "GMA 4500MDH" which is capable of
opengl 2.0, but in the report it sais opengl1.1. Get the newest graphics driver from the intel website and it should work.

Hey billgliwa,
your graphics setup looks fine. Please write here what kind of problems you exactly have. Also do the following: Start oopt16, go to settings/troubleshouting and in the dropdown choose "write ootp debug info into file". Then start a new game in 3d mode or generate a new face somewhere. Then go back to settings/troubleshouting and click on
"open log file ootp_trace.txt". Please post this textfile here.

If I try and just simulate games it works fine but if I try and play pbp it crashes even before the game starts. Marcus told me in another post to disable the 3d and that they were working on this bug. I did as he told me to do but I am not able to play games individually.

I did as you said, but it crashes when I enable 3d. It isn't writing an error log. I've tried it 3 times, 2 times with trying to start the game and 1 time with face gen, but it crashes both ways.

Ok, as a follow up.... I've tried a few different things and I disabled sound and now the game starts. No player pics but it starts.

after checking, no updates available/needed for my drivers; but game seems to be working a lot better with the OpenGL shaders disabled. only played around for a few minutes, but no crashes yet. I couldn't leave the manager's homescreen before w/o a crash.

new game looks amazing!

probably a dumb question, but am I missing anything with the shaders disabled? I've been thinking for awhile now that it was probably time to get a new CPU. maybe OOTP is the push I needed.

What I did was shut off all my 3D and face gen options and I avoided anymore crashes that way,but I still want to post this because previous years versions of OOTP I have never had any problems like this with.
