African venues?

Has anyone out there accumulated a list of African arenas and other venues used for boxing? My fictional universe includes an African group, and the game only has a few African venues. I prefer to use actual venues. I'm not so interested in pictures, just actual name [and location of course], capacity and quality.

I've done some searching on the web, but have had little luck.

venues

Try boxrec. Looking up a prominent African fighter's record and seeing where he's fought is one way to accumulate more venues. You can also access the country itself (location) to see what cards were held where in which year.

Thanks, guys!

You know, it never crossed my mind to try boxrec. I went there last night and found a couple of South African venues to flesh out the list that comes with the game.

But boxrec makes me nervous. There are so many popups, even though I have my browser set to block popups. And while at boxrec, down at the bottom of the screen there is a lot of activity of things loading, etc.

Is boxrec a safe site?

I am very careful about where I surf. I've had to reformat my hard drive too many times because of trojans and viruses getting past my antivirus software and screwing up my hard drive.

I am by no means an expert in such things but I have never knowingly gotten anything bad from boxrec. It is simply a bother which I try to remind myself is a bother that keeps the site free to me.

You will find more venues than you know what to do with there.

Use the location tab:

BoxRec Boxing Records

I selected something in Botswana - they give you the Google Map link:

Google Maps

I can see there that it was in something called the Gaborone Hotel & Casino. Google that - Gaborone Hotel & Casino and I'd imagine you could guess or find venue size, et cetera.

That's a poor example as there was only one fight at that venue (in 2001).

Thanks much!

In the fictional HW universe I am currently playing, my fighters are mostly fighting in their own regions, for regional belts. A couple of times a year the top guys from each region travel to cities like New York, Las Vegas, Tokyo, London, etc, for cards organized to decide world championships.

With the venues I'm finding on boxrec, at least now there will be some variety in where the African bouts are taking place.
