8 Team Franchise League

This is an F2P league, intended to appeal to collection mission types.

Here's one for all you collectors. I want to form a league where each team may have players from only 8 different franchises. But to avoid everyone picking the same 8, some additional rules:

Any player who played at least half his seasons before 1901 is a wild card and may be used by any franchise. bbref is the final authority on this.

Any player who played in both the Negro Leagues and MLB is the property of his carded franchise, and that franchise may use his NeL card. Any NeL player who did not play in MLB is a wild card and eligible for use by all.

Both historical and Live cards are eligible, speculative cards (Future legends) are not.

The following franchises are linked as one:

ATL/BSN/MLN (Braves)
BAL/SLA (Orioles)
BRO/LAD (Dodgers)
CAL/ANA/LAA (Angels)
FLA/MIA (Marlins)
PHA/KCA/OAK (A's)
MIN/WS1 (Twins)
NYG/SFG (Giants)
TEX/WS2 (Rangers)

Of the following 9 franchises, you may use at most 4:

Braves
Orioles
Red Sox
Tigers
Twins
Giants
Yankees
A's
Cardinals

Sign up here, no need to declare your teams up front.

We will designate our team names as (8F), hopefully we will all friend each other and play as one league, more or less. And hopefully we can set up a discord channel - I am ArchieGoodwin there.

Also, please don't spend any cash on these teams. I envision them as simply a way to entice us to complete some of the team missions.

At least, the Archie and Nero ones by Rex Stout. A couple of the Goldsborough ones are OK, especially the prequel, but some of them are just not true to the genre.

A couple of things:

1 - I think you should specify, in the thread subject, if possible, that this is a F2P league. I know at the end of the post you say not to spend cash on the teams, but it would be best at the top, just to emphasize it.

2 - I am assuming that when you say 8 teams, you mean the team that the player is with on the card, not any team he was associated with. I was playing around with a Reds themed team and I cheated a bit with any player who was with the Reds in his career, but with 8 teams that sort of cheat shouldn't be needed.

I couldn't edit the thread title, but I put it as the first line. And yes, it's the team on the card only. This makes Satchel Paige a St. Loius Brown's reliever.

This idea hasn't seemed to take off, so I am going to move my teams to Our League, which I played in and enjoyed last year. Sorry.

I'm planning on joining, if this is still happening. I'm planning on the NL teams before expansion from 8 to 10 teams:

Braves, Cardinals, Cubs, Dodgers, Giants, Phillies, Pirates, Reds

Last year I tried a Braves only team and found a little too restrictive. So, this team will probably have a Braves slant, with help from the rest of the teams.
