Huge Unexpected salary Increase
In my historical league, I brought up player from the minors. This was his first time in the majors and he played for the major league minimum of about $11k. I assumed i had him for at least three years at this low salary as he had no prior major league experience. So I took no action. At the winter meetings prior to the start of the next season, his salary was listed at $49k. How can this be? Again, I took no action and he had no prior ML experience.

From my experience playing historical, players are on 1-Year contracts and automatically get arbitrated in the offseason. Doesn't matter if they're a sophomore. If they have good stats, they'll make more money.
This changes in 1976 with the introduction of free agency, and the financial system gets a little more complicated. |
