spring training roster
This question has probably already been asked but is there anyway to do a non-roster invitee sort of thing during the spring training period in the game? I don't want to have to waive a bunch of guys to get them off the 40 man roster.

No, unfortunately there is no way to have non roster guys. Hopefully that feature will be implemented on the next version.
You could try signing a guy you may be interested in to a contract and put him on your 40 man roster if it isn't full. If he makes the team then keep him. If not go into commissioner mode and change his contract to Minor League and release him. I guess it is sort of "cheating", but it kind of allows you to try someone without having to be responsible for his contract. |

That' what I do...

To stay "honest", I only sign guys that would be non-roster invittees if there was such a thing: journeymen, spare MRs, utility infielders, etc. I don't take established FA players who just haven't found a team yet. I also check for what the contract they "want" before I put them on the team. Mostly "will accept min lg contract"; but for the few that want $540k or such, I give them that if they stick Seems to not be a cheat. |
