In the top of the first, Piniella hit an RBI single.

In the top of the second, Hedlund helped his cause with a run-scoring single. The Royals loaded the bases with one out afterGogolewski hit Patek with a pitch. But Otis grounded into the 5-4-3 to retire the side.

In the bottom of the third, Wynn put the Rangers on the board withan RBI single. Burroughs then tied the game with one of his own.

After three: Kansas City 2 Texas 2.

Nothing of note happened in the middle innings.

After six: Kansas City 2 Texas 2.

Horacio Pina came in to pitch for the Rangers in the top of the eighth.

Tom Burgmeier came in to pitch for the Royals in the bottom of the eighth. With runners at first and second and one out, Ted W Abernathy replaced Burgmeier and walked Mincher to load the bases. Billings was hit by a pitch to force in the go-ahead run. Harrah went down on strikes for the second out. Kubiak then grounded to second to end the inning.

Schaal led off the top of the ninth with a home run to tie the game.

The Rangers went down in order in the bottom of the ninth.

After nine: Kansas City 3 Texas 3.

Jim Panther took the mound for the Rangers in the top of the tenth. Mayberry scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball. The Royals got the lead without getting a hit in the inning.

Monty Montgomery took the mound for the Royals in the bottom of the tenth. Wynn scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly by Mincher. With the winning run at first, Billings grounded into the inning-ending 6-4-3.

In the bottom of the eleventh, Vic Harris scored from first on a Maddox double to end the game.

The Royals had 11 hits in the loss.

In the top of the ninth, with runners at first and second and one out, Jim Shellenback took the mound for the Rangers. The Royals loaded the bases with two out. Nelson misplayed a Taylor grounder and Piniella scored to make it a one-run game. Pinch hitter Steve Hovley struck out to end the game.

Today, the Rangers try to complete their first ever three game sweep of a road series as they visit the Milwaukee Brewers. The Rangers have won four of their last five. The Brewers have lost six of their last seven. This is the only game on the schedule in all of MLB today.

Texas Rangers LF Jeff Burroughs is expected to miss at least one more week due to his sprained ankle.

Two walks later and bases were loaded again with one out. Nelson went down on strikes for the second out. Wynn drewa walk to bring home another run. Howard singled to bring two more home. With runners at first and second and two out, Lynn McGlothen took the mound for the Red Sox. Mincher singled to load the bases with two out. Wynn then scored on a wild pitch. The Rangers ended up scoring ten runs in the inning.

Paul Lindblad took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the ninth. Pinch hitter Phil Gagliano led off with a home run.

The two teams combined for 31 hits in the contest.

Yastrzemski led off the bottom of the first with a home run. One out later, Smith hit a solo home run.

In the top of the third, Nelson hit an RBI single to tie the game. Nelson later scored on a Wynn sacrifice fly to give the Rangers the lead.

After Mincher led off the top of the sixth with a double, Ron Klimkowski took the mound for the Red Sox. Ford brought Mincher home with a single.

After a leadoff walk in the bottom of the seventh, Paul Lindblad took the mound for the Rangers. Pinch hitter Charlie Spikes got an RBI triple to make it a one-run game. Kubiak then fumbled a Yasztremski grounder and Spikes scored the tying run.

Bobby Bolin took the mound for the Red Sox in the top of the eighth.

Horacio Pina took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the eighth.

In the bottom of the ninth the Red Sox had runners at the corners and one out. Pinch hitter John E Kennedy hit a grounder to short. Griffin tried to score the winning run from third but Harrah threw home and Billings tagged Griffin out. Yastrzemski drew a walk to load the bases with two out. Pina struck out Aparicio to send the game into extra innings.
