How do I change from GM/head coach to just GM

I started a save as just the general manager. Then for some reason I noticed my head coach was gone and I went from GM to GM/Head Coach. I don't see where to change my role back to Gm. Is there a way to change your role? Or do I have to retire and start as a new GM?

Hire a new head coach and you'll be back to GM-only.

I don't know if this messed things up but I went into commissioner mode and changed mike babcock from toronto to my team and it showed him as head coach and it showed me as Gm/head coach still. I guess if this happens again I'll hire a coach the traditional way and see if the Head coach gets removed from my role.

Yeah, just changing him in commissioner mode won't trigger the change that removes the head coach job from you - he has to actually be hired.
