Am I missing something. How do I put a player on Long Term Injured Reserve so they don't go against the Cap? I started a franchise as Leafs and Horton and Clarkson were taking up cap space but shouldn't be as I should be able to put them on LTIR. How do I do this?

As soon as you put them onto the Injured List, that cap space opens up. They won't leave it because their injuries are indefinite.

Yeah, just right-click and "To Injury List" will put them on the injured reserve and remove their cap hit. It'll be available immediately to guys with pre-existing injuries at the start of a game.
