Spritze/Gambo DB, unaffiliated minors - control through financials or levels?
If I want to set up an unaffiliated minor leagues with relegation am I better off creating all four leagues with major league status, but making the financials lower at each 'level' to simulate this? Or am I better of designating the leagues as ML, AAA, AA and A ball, but keeping them unaffiliated?
If anyone could help me out with the pros and cons of each type of set up, or help me out with anything I might be missing that would be a big help. I don't know what I don't know . . . Thanks! |

If it helps, based on the current EPL, I would have the payrolls for AAA be about 20% of the majors, AA 5% and A 2.5%. Average attendance would be 53% at AAA, 22% at AA and 12.5% at A. I'll set the media deals for each league to be in line with the payroll after adjusting for ticket sales (still need to do a little research on average ticket prices at each level).
I'll also adjust the recently relegated teams for a 'soft landing' in the new league, giving them a payroll bump the first year after being relegated, through an adjustment to their local media revenue or something. Can the game handle this? |

Also, I am not planning on having any playoffs, though I'll use exhibitions during the season to simulate the FA Cup. I assume it's not possible to have an in season tournament any way but exhibitions, right? It'd be great for the game to track the stats in the Cup over time.

Bumping, no one has any thoughts on what the better way to do this might be? Even if you don't know for sure, if you have an educated guess I'd be curious.

Since you aren't getting replies, I would simply suggest that you test out the ideas that you have considered. I don't have a clue about the financials but you could setup two tests, each of them using the payroll and attendance percentages you have listed, with one test being where each league is a major league, and the other test where there is Majors, AAA, AA, and A. Let them both run several years, with you making only minimal changes (ones necessary to test out your idea, like relegation), then evaluate the results...
Then, the next time somebody asks about this, instead of no replies, you will be the expert :-) Good luck! |
