As to the hair, one of the major sticking points, beyond the cost of a license, is the size of the hair files. They're huge.
To add in all of the hair files from the SI pack would increase the size of the game by a little over 600MB. Plus, even if $995 isn't that much overall, it's still probably more than OOTP would make in additional sales by adding the hair files. How many people would say: 'Oh! Facegen in OOTP has hair now! I wasn't going to buy the game, but now I am and at the full price!'? Would it be at least 25 people, which would be the break even point for OOTPD? I honestly doubt it. So I'd like to see the hair included, but I just don't think that it'll happen anytime soon. Hopefully I'm wrong Last edited by Lukas Berger; 12-27-2013 at 09:25 PM. |

If I played more games where I could use the Facegen program I would buy it for $200.

Why does OOTP ignore the extremely popular ideas then? The ones that get brought up every year by a dozen people.

It's hard to say specifically without knowing exactly which ideas you are referring to. Even then, I probably wouldn't be able to tell you for sure, though I could possibly venture an educated guess. You mentioned the custom awards. I can tell you that they haven't been ignored. They have been discussed with the devs in the beta forum, but I can't tell you why they haven't made it in yet. Only Markus and Andreas know for sure. I imagine there's a different reason for each different idea. Generally it's likely one of a few things. The coding taking more time than we think it would, the suggestions not fitting in with Markus' or Andreas' vision for the game for some reason, or the suggestions not being persuasively enough presented with enough data to back them up. Plus, it's just a sad reality that there just isn't enough time in the day for the developers to add every idea with merit to the game in a given year. They can't code 24/7 365 after all. The last two versions haven't really improved that much IMO. Most of the improvements they make are with the graphics and the AI Trading and contract negotiations. The changes aren't very obvious, to me at least. Not trying to be rude, it's just my observation. I wish they implemented more things that stand out.

I'd disagree, but it's not like my opinion is more valid than yours. As a reference, last year there were the following major changes: - totally revamped fielding and aging models - the addition of the international complexes - totally revamped international scouting and signings - the addition of the ability to specify the nationalities of players entering the league through multiple avenues - an overhaul of the pitching staff roles - the addition of the custom database source folder option plus lots of the graphic and ai changes you reference and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting as well. Those certainly fit my definition of major improvements. Last edited by Lukas Berger; 12-28-2013 at 02:58 AM. |

I am really digging 14. I haven't gotten too much into the aging mechanisms (fielding spectrum) but that was a major improvement. Let's not forget that new awesome playoff window (haven't gotten there yet).
Oh, and being able to control how many of each type of position that the AI has to have and being able to control nation of origin. Oh, it gets improved, I'm with you on that. But hair...what if I laid out the full $900. Could we get it then?
