I just finished running a test league making the cards automatically and didn't get an error message for any of them. Are you manually creating the same type (default, allstar, hof, award) of card that is causing the error message? I would think if you get an error one way you should get one the other way also. |

With other card templates I've used, if you sim from one Jan 1st to the next, the game will create baseball cards at the all star break and after the post season. I get the error message previously described on both occasions. If I go into a player's profile page and create a baseball card, which should have been done automatically, it works fine.

I think I've realised what I've been doing wrong.
I wasn't removing the "05_donruss_" from the .xml filenames. I've now done so and it works a treat. Thanks for your help guys. |

I am just playing around with these templates and love it. Do all of you that use these frequently regenerate them year after year to update the stats?
Thanks for any advice. |

Square Logos
Does it matter if my league has square logos? Will they work with these cards?

I didn't test square logos but it shouldn't really matter except for maybe the cards that have a circular area for the logo (the platinum or the score), the corners of your logo may hang outside the area. Other than that they should be in the right location. |

Hello,
I've been away for awhile and recently bought OOTP12 and started playing to get a feel for it again. As a test, I set up a historical league and tried to use the 2005 Dunruss set. I must have done something wrong because the end of year awards cards were created with the generic (best fielder, etc) names rather than Gold Glove. What is the correct way to use this set? |

There are 2 xml files for each award, one uses a generic name for the award and the other uses the mlb award name. Make sure you're using the ones with the mlb award name in the file name.

Thanks for the info, but that leads me to another question. I never really played with these in ootp11 so forgive me for not knowing how to do this.
Do the card templates get copied to the saved game? Or if I switch to playing a fictional league do I need to switch the cards and then do it again when I go back to my historical? Thank you very much for your help...and for creating these wonderful templates. |

I don't have OOTP 12 yet but I'm assuming the cards feature hasn't changed much. The templates stay in the ...\OOTP Baseball 12\bb_cards\templates folder. If you're switching between leagues and they use different templates you'll need to remember to switch the templates.
What I did in 11 was I made a folder within bb_cards called templates-historical with all the templates I could find on the boards and named the xml's so they would be created for the specific year for a historical league. I also had each template in it's own folder called templates-cardname for my fictional leagues. Then I could just rename the folders based on what league or card template I was using. For example if I was playing historical I would rename templates-historical to templates and sim, then if I changed to a fictional league that used the Procards card I changed templates back to templates-historical and renamed templates-procards to templates. I'm sure there is a better/more efficient way but it works for me. |

Make sure you rename the xml files, I believe you just need to remove the year and card brand from the names I gave mine. You should have:
default.xml hof.xml all_star.xml defense_award.xml hitter_award.xml pitcher_award.xml rookie_award.xml (for some of my cards there's another set of award xml's for mlb based leagues, if you use these make sure the filename is the same as the award names you use in the game.) |

Can someone help me with this. I am having trouble getting them to work. I tried the 2001 fleer platinum card template, but when I created a test card, nothing shows up.

1960 Fleer - no graphic difference btwn default, as, hof and awards, paragraph on the back is the only difference. 10 different textures. 1984 Ralston Purina 1985 Donruss 2006 Bowman - different border colors for the other types - blue=as, gold=hof, red=award 2000 Upper Deck |

2006 Bowman and 2000 UD look great, I wish there was an easy way to use all of these cards seprately from each other. it seems, and I migth be wrong) that some cards overwrite others as far as AS, HOF. etc. I use about 12 different cards right now depending on which season I am in.
