MBL news: World Series Game 5 -- Madison 8, Columbus 5
After dropping Game 1, the Madison Muskies dominated the remained of the Midwest Baseball League World Series reeling off four straight wins over the Columbus Golden Bears for their first championship.
Madison (105-57) owned MBL's best record in the regular season and it continued through the playoffs, as it won seven of eight games. Walkers news: Toglia named MVP of PCL American League
Michael Toglia of the St. Louis River Walkers has been named the Most Valuable Player of the American Conference of the Pacific Coast League.
In 122 games with the Memphis Redbirds, the 24-year-old Toglia batted .315 with 36 homers and 115 RBIs. He also played pretty well when called up to the River Walkers late in the season, batting .301 in 30 games with eight homers and 16 RBIs. |

MBL news: Des Moines moves past Madison
Des Moines put up seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to carry it to a 9-7 win over Madison, and a 3-1 victory in the National League championship series.

MBL news: Ann Arbor goes distance to stun Akron
Cameron Maybin had the game-winning single in the top of the 10th inning, as Ann Arbor downed Akron 5-4 to win the American League championship series.
With the win, Ann Arbor eliminated the Flying Feet who had posted the league's best record in the regular season of 107-55. The Pack will face Des Moines, who defeated Madison in four games to win the NL championship series. Catcher Johnathan Lucroy was named MVP of the series. He batted .353 over the five games with three homers and six RBIs. All three of the homers came in a Game 4 victory. |
