Players missing a year

How is this thought to work ?
Take Cecil Fielder. I started a setup in 1989. The year Cecil Fielder was playing in Japan. I was almost expecting him to be unavailable in 1989 and in 1990 pop up in Detroit. He signed with Detroit for the 1990 season IRL.

Now Cecil popped up as a FA in 1989 and signed with Royals.

I did not use Historical Trans, since I always like to play with full minors.

Hideo Nomo popped up late 1994 and signed MiLB contract with Dodgers, but by opening day he was only signed at a minimum MLB-contract. Hardly very real after leaving the Japanese League.
Felt like was considered by the AI as a plain rookie out from College.

There is a setting that says something like "players miss seasons according to history" check that one if it is checked Fielder will miss '89 and where he signs is up to the game.
It is one the historical tab in league settings.

Yeah, I know that stuff.
However doesn't like to use it thanks to that is mostly when players missed a full year because of injury. Having injury on at any level in game will add extra time a player could miss a year.
Kind of double injury jeopardy.

In the past I recall that if you started a certain year and a player was out or played in Japan he wasn't imported that year. Even further back versions he just never ever popped up, but when that missing year was fixed he did pop up in the "correct" team and year.
A bit like Nomo and rest of the later Japanese and Cubans hopefully will do.

I found out that Nomo accually signed as a minor league contract at first.
It was a minor league deal for the 26-year-old right-hander, but that was more a formality. Nomo received a signing bonus of over $2 million, and was the first Japanese star player to migrate to the big leagues.
