08/03/1975 - League Gets Last Word, Suspends Kingman 3 Games

The baseball commissioner has suspended Mets first baseman Dave Kingman 3 games for arguing too vehemently on a called third strike in the Pittsburgh game at Three Rivers Stadium. Apparently he said the magic words and was ejected by the home plate umpire. He went into the dugout, then returned to the field, resumed his argument with the umpire and had to be restrained by his first base coach.

Kingman said he shouldn't have gone back on the field.

"I was pretty mad. I was all over the place."

Kingman is hitting .235 so far this season with 70 RBIs and 60 runs scored. He has 101 hits including 27 home runs, 47 walks and .313 OBP

Here are the results of the replay:

Versus the actual results (graphic courtesy Wikipedia):

So it got the World Series nearly perfect (4-2 Reds vs 4-3 Reds). But yet again no Oakland A's.
