Does anyone know if Adjust/Weaken is supposed to work only in the inaugural year or is it supposed to apply to players that come in as rookies (real historical rookies, RDL)? Because there is no way it is working for the latter, and I am not even sure it is working for the first season. And why o why does in a RDL so many guys in the draft class (mostly RPs), who have 4 or 5 star talent & potential when even their neutralized stats have them at career 5 or 6 ERAs.I think either the ADjust/Weaken stuff doesn't work and/or the Random Debut player creation. To me, they are both wonked, or one of them is.

It's for the inaugural season only. It applies to players who are imported in the historical league creation process. After the players are imported and the league has started, subsequent players come in as rookies or minor leaguers and aren't penalized for not having x at bats or innings pitched.

I set it high, usually at 375 and 150 for batters though sometimes it depends on the starting year.

If this is the case, then a similar adjustment option would be awesome for incoming rookies, because throughout history there are plenty of rookies who come in with minimal AB or IP that the game overrates, over rates.

To keep such cup of coffee players from getting way more playing time than they should, I almost always go through my draft class player by player and delete undesirables.

Weaken/adjust is for all players for the selected season being played. If a player was injured during his 4th season and had 10 hits in 20 ABs, his raw rating may be very high but when the game applies your weaken/adjust settings his resulting stats should be at replacement level. It does not matter if this is your league’s inaugural year or 50th year.

I have heard so many things about the Adjust/Weaken function that I don't know what to believe. I think a lot of people just give their interpretation of what they think it means.

All I know is that in actual dynasty play of historical leagues, whether random debut or not, including initial random debut and rookie-only random debut, the RATINGS assigned to a lot of players (and their performance during their rookie seasons and careers), especially relief pitchers, do not make me believe that the Adjust/Weaken function works like I want it to.

Yes I agree a lot of the explanations on the forums is just guessing based on experience (or just guessing). It would be nice if the manual was more thorough or if there was a way to ask the developers. I know the developers do pop in fairly often with information and I appreciate that.
I would really like to know more about 3 yr and 5 yr recalc and how does that determine ratings and how is weaken/adjust is handled in that situation. Assuming I am correct above, what can I expect for BA if I use 300/100 for weaken/adjust using 3 year recal double weight current YR (1952) and the player had the following

Year. At Bats. Hits. Batting Average
1951. 600. 200. .333
1952. 200. 80. .400
1953. 600. 200. .333

Let us say League average for 1952 is .270. Will my player hit league average or is there some kind of sliding scale toward league average that sets in at the weaken/adjust setting so maybe my players expected batting average might be higher than .270 (maybe .300?). Or is his expected BA based on his BA for each year ((2x.400)+.333+.333)/4)=.367. Or is it based on hits and at bats for each year (200+(2x80)+200)/(600+(2x200)+600)=.350.
So based on stuff I have seen on the forum his expected batting average is anywhere between .270 and .400.
Oh well, I guess they call that the “fog of war”.
