22nd Season of BJBL Now Recruiting - Semi-Historical/Present Day Rosters

Hello, have I got an opportunity for you.

BJBL is a semi-historical league in the sense that it started way back in 1986 and has now reached it's 22nd season as we now enter the offseason between 2006 and 2007. Real players have come and gone, Alex Rodriguez retired at 24, he will be sorely missed. However, in addition to those real life players (Tim Lincecum, Ubaldo Jiminez and Ryan Braun will be rookies next year) I have developed an entire high school feeder system. With 100 teams, and players being generated as young as 13, you can follow these prized prospects throughout their high school days before they enter the draft at 18.

Originally this was in an effort to keep the game as realistic as possible. Nobody wants those 5 round drafts where the 1st pick of the 2nd round isn't even good enough for your 40 man roster. We get at least 40 rounds into the draft each and every year, sometimes pushing 50 rounds depending on how many kids declare. Currently on my major league squad, I have a 24th round starting LF and a 19th rounder in my pen. Sure the studs are in the 1st round and once you get past the back half, there are players with some risk attached to them, just like real life.

In addition to the feeder system that has full stat tracking, we have accurate media revenue for the national television contracts (expect an explosion in 2013) that keeps salaries right in line with real life. Once we reach present day, obviously the real players will not be entering the draft, and we will move to full fictional.

This is the 22nd year and although we have a handful of openings, we also have 10-12 members who have been here for the duration of the league, and without that solid base, we wouldn't be here today.

There's a debate going on now whether to upgrade to 16 or stay put until OOTP 17, so if you're not looking to upgrade right now, this may be the league for you.
