Injuries

tried to find answer..my first ootp game in few years.

I am in challenge mode - so far in first 20 games.

3 SP out for months

1 reliever

1 starting outfielder

very unrealistic...

i go into settings and it is set to "ootp classic" but of course is greyed out it seems for me to move it even "lower"..

any way to make injuries happen less?

yes i just hired a new team conditioner, will see if that helps any i suppose.

update.

4th SP...

literally in the 8th inning, my sp Glasnow pitching a CG in 8th, now hurt...

oh wait, simmed another game after that, still in april. now josh harrison is out for a month...

this is silly...

Game Settings > Players and Facegen > Injury Frequency....hope that helps

You can't change it in Challenge Mode.

bet it happens to a team nearly every year. you just got hit with the ugly stick, that's all. since it is challenge mode, are there ramifications to just starting over? if so, i'd stick it out, otherwise dump it if you dislike it that much.

think classic is "normal" right? that's what i use, too. the 'realistic' setting is more frequent injuries, if i recall. (says realistic or modern major league... in the setting)

and challenge mode is just challenges given by the owner to complete? nothing more?

no, it is its own mode. restricted in what you can change in the settings so that you can compare results between players. leaderboards and such are available.

thanks. love ootp and of course many great reasons to play but I am just a little amazed by what has happened injury wise in the first month of the season.

Starting 3b after 3 more sims.

I am going to take a break now and think of what I could of spent with that $40 instead of a sim baseball game where I manage a disabled list full of my starting players...

May sim some more later and update! Actually having a weird sort of fun...

If OOTP devs don't see this as a problem and not think it is happening to many others and understands this is not even close to realistic and just not a "bad break", that is amazing..

5 more sim days, not here is a guy I brought up to the majors to replace two SP's that were injured and well now he is injured.

your team doctor is a hack!

i doubt you can change that in challenge mode... if it's not "greyed out" you are not in challenge mode.

i use normal injuries, but that's supposedly less frequent than modern mlb (says in drop-down list of options). i've seen a team get decimated. it does happen. if every team is in the same boat, you should defintiely post somethign in bugs... if most teams are fine... ?

if they are dtd injuries, you can play them... it's like a nagging injury in RL

give the next guy a "1" for each of his injury rtings and move injury to history... bet he doesn't get hurt after that.. heck, make the whole team 1's just to see and a team doctor that's well-rated -- if any focus, prevention or neutral (if he is better at recovery, tht means he's worse at prevention etc it very likely balances out, because that's wht video games do.)
