Players Ignoring Much Larger MLB Contracts to sign Minor League Deals
Using 1980 Finances.
I offered a vet 2bman and CF $150K contracts a week before the season started. They demanded more money in negotiations from me but the day the season started they had accepted minor league deals even though I had far larger offers on the table. Both had very high greed and were demanding superstar salaries in the preseason.

Did they end up signing for teams in the same league as yours or a different league?

Same league. But in other universes I have had players ignore my larger offers to sign with an international league.

Do you typically see this behavior when using historical financials (lower than normal salaries)?

bababui,
Do you happen to have a copy of your league from before this happened? I'd love to test this out as closely as possible... Thanks, Steve

Similiar Problem
ALL Free Agents in my 2009 MLB league are asking for only minor league contracts...? This includes Ben Sheets, Tad Iguchi and other vets who would not be asking for a minor league deal.

I opened a new thread but no one has responded. Is anyone else having this problem? EVERY single free agent is asking for a minor league contract and I signed Ben Sheets to one!
Thanks, Ted |

I had this happen to me on import. I imported my fictional OOTP 9 universe into OOTP X 10.4.28, running the import on game date 12/31/2014.
At the time, myself and two other teams had been engaged in a month-long bidding war with two other teams for the AL Cy Young award winner. I believe my last offer was a four-year contract worth about $24 million per year. As soon as I ran the import, he signed a minor league contract with a Cuban League (AA) franchise. This wasn't uniform -- most of the free agents continued to await major league offers. Maybe he just likes cigars! |

Also, I got the message that he was actually prefering the offer by Costa Rica, but then he signed with Hollywood. We just had an expansion draft, FYI. Furthermore, there were quite a lot of players who apparently were annoyed by the minor league contracts I offered them, only to sign minor league contracts with other teams the same sim. Strange indeed.
